摘要: A flooding phenomenon is suppressed in a high current density loading region so as to attempt the improvement of cell performance of fuel cells. An electrode catalyst for fuel cells, in which a catalyst comprising an alloy catalyst composed of a noble metal and one or more transition metals and having surface characteristics such that it shows a pH value in water of 6.0 or more is supported on conductive carriers, and a fuel cell using such electrode catalyst for fuel cells, are provided.

摘要: A carbon gel composite material including: a carbon gel which is composed of primary particles with an average particle diameter of 2 to 50 nm, where no x-ray diffraction peaks are observed over a scan angle (2θ) range of 0.5 to 10° (CuK60 radiation) and where in a pore size distribution calculated from an adsorption/desorption isotherm, if a pore diameter corresponding to the peak of the pore size distribution is not smaller than 1 nm and is smaller than 10 nm (pore diameter (d)), pores accounting for 60% or more of the total pore volume have a pore diameter within plus or minus 2 nm of the pore diameter (d), and if a pore diameter corresponding to the peak of the pore size distribution is in a range of 10 to 50 nm (pore diameter (D)), pores accounting for 60% or more of the total pore volume have a pore diameter in a range of (0.75×D) to (1.25×D); and at least one adsorbed component selected from the group consisting of proteins, metal complexes and metals, which is adsorbed on the carbon gel.

摘要: A coated material comprising a substrate which has micropores and a reaction product coated thereon along the surface configuration of the substrate and an inner wall of the micropores thereof. The coated material is preferably produced by performing a supercritical coating step wherein a reaction precursor is dissolved in a supercritical fluid to form a precursor fluid and then the precursor fluid is brought into contact with a substrate in the presence with a reaction initiator to allow a reaction between the reaction precursor and the reaction initiator, thereby coating a reaction product onto the substrate.

摘要: A F-type electrochemical cell, which is a lithium air battery, includes a positive electrode facing a negative electrode composed of metallic lithium with a separator provided therebetween in a casing. Air is capable of flow to the positive electrode. A nonaqueous electrolytic solution is charged into a space between the positive electrode and the negative electrode. At least one of the positive electrode and the nonaqueous electrolytic solution of the lithium air battery contains a compound having a stable radical skeleton. The compound also serves as a redox catalyst for oxygen.

摘要: In an adsorption-type refrigerating apparatus, an adsorber includes therein an adsorbent having a temperature-dependent characteristic in which an amount adsorbed in an adsorption step is larger than an amount adsorbed in a desorption step, even when a vapor pressure rate in the adsorption step is equal to or lower than a vapor pressure rate in the desorption step. Therefore, even when the cooling temperature of outside air for cooling the adsorbent increases, a sufficient cooling capacity can be obtained. In addition, a difference between the amount adsorbed in the adsorption step and the amount adsorbed in the desorption step can be made larger.

摘要: A novel electrocatalyst made of an oxidase having high electron transfer efficiency and an enzymatic electrode using the same are provided. The electrocatalyst is made of CueO. The enzymatic electrode comprises a carbonaceous porous body and an electrocatalyst made of CueO supported on the surface of the carbonaceous porous body. CueO is preferably CueO from Escherichia coli. The carbonaceous porous body constituting the enzymatic electrode is preferably carbonaceous gel. Also, the enzymatic electrode may further comprise a mediator which facilitates transfer of electron between the carbonaceous porous body and said CueO.
