A system for detecting reverse rotation of a 4-cycle, internal combustion engine with three or more cylinder for an outboard motor mounted on a boat, whose output is connected to a propeller such that the boat is propelled forward or reverse. In the system, it is determined whether a counted value of crank angle signals generated once every 30 crank angles is a multiple of a predetermined number (e.g., four in six cylinders), when the cylinders are identified and it is determined that engine rotates reverse when the counted value is determined to be not the multiple and the engine is immediately stopped. With this, it becomes possible to accurately detect the reverse rotation of the engine and prevent its further reverse rotation.

In the system, it is discriminated periodically for a predetermined period of time whether the output of the equipment is within a predetermined range, a number of times that the output of the equipment is discriminated to be out of the predetermined range is counted; and the equipment is determined to have malfunctioned when the count is equal to or greater than the reference value. With this, it becomes possible to detect the malfunction of the equipment accurately.

A system for detecting overheat of an internal combustion engine for an outboard motor. In the system,when an elapsed time since engine staring is within a predetermined time, a detected engine temperature is equal to or greater than a first predetermined temperature and an detected engine speed exceeds an idling speed; a threshold value (compared with the detected engine temperature to determine the engine overheating) is changed to be increased. With this, even if the detected engine temperature is higher than a true or actual temperature at, for example, a high engine load immediately after engine starting or when the engine has been left in the idling state, the system can prevent it from being determined unnecessarily as the overheated condition.

The method as described above comprises: searching for nucleic acid sequence database by using a fragment mass set indicating the molecular weights and inner structural data of individual oligonucleotides that are obtained by tandem mass spectrometry on digested oligonucleotides formed by chemically or enzymatically cleaving a ribonucleic acid; scoring candidate sequences; among candidate sequences showing the highest scores, referring those showing scores exceeding the threshold as identified sequences; and using these identified sequences in mapping on nucleic acid sequence database including genomic sequences.

The present invention manages disk-drive types in a storage device in which a mixture of disk drives of a plurality of types with different interfaces is stored. The storage device enclosure stores a mixture of an FC disk drive 220F with a fiber channel interface and a SATA disk drive with a serial interface. The SATA disk drive is connected to a fiber channel via an FC/SATA interface connection device 233 that performs interface conversion. At startup and so forth, the controller 310 issues an inquiry to the enclosure management unit or to each of the disk drives and, based on the address allocated to each of the disk drives, or similar, automatically confirms the type of each disk drive and manages the confirmation results.

A roll crusher having a pair of rolls facing each other, in which feed material to be crushed is fed into a space or a crushing chamber formed in between these rolls, and the pair of rolls rolls up the material to compress and crush it. Both ends of one or the other of the rolls are provided with flanges which cover the lower portions of end openings in the crushing chamber. Cheek plates fixedly disposed cover the remaining portions of the end openings of the crushing chamber. This construction helps prevent feed material from flowing out of the crushing chamber. One of the pair of the rolls is driven for rotation by a source of drive power, and the other is rotated freely as well as driven to rotate initially at low speed, which permits coarse materials to be forcibly entrained in between the rolls for crushing. During the process of crushing, the crushing clearance of rolls is set to 0.6 to 2.4 times 80% passing size of feed material, and feed rate is limited so that passing rate of the material ranges 0.5 to 0.8 times the theoretical throughput capacity of the crusher, which remarkably increases the actual throughput of the roll crusher.

In fuel supply system for an engine in which a discharge port in a fuel pump driven by the engine to draw up fuel in a fuel tank is connected to an inlet port which is provided in a fuel reservoir and which is controlled in opening and closing by a float valve so that the fuel in the fuel reservoir is supplied to the engine, a second discharge port is provided in the fuel pump, and a second inlet port without a float valve is provided in the fuel reservoir. The second discharge port and the second inlet port are connected to each other through a control valve opened during starting of the engine. Thus, when the engine is started, fuel vapor generated in a pump chamber in the fuel pump can be discharged to the fuel reservoir having an air vent, to normalize the function of the fuel pump, leading to an enhancement in hot startability of the engine.
