摘要： While using a communication system in which groups of destinations on a network are managed, and any one of the groups can be specified as a destination, if a group needs to be changed, added, or deleted, updating the system on the network is required, which increases load of maintenance. To address such a problem, an operation input receiving unit of a terminal receives selection of a group including destination information that represents destination candidates of communication. A destination management unit of the terminal determines a destination among the destination candidates represented by the destination information included in the selected group. A sending and receiving unit of the terminal makes a request for starting communication with the determined destination, to a management system.

A first apparatus includes a first recording unit to record personal data of one or more users who can use the first apparatus to share the personal data with other apparatuses. A second apparatus includes a first setting unit to record personal data of one or more users who can use the second apparatus; and a first control unit to compare the personal data recorded in the first setting unit and the first recording unit and update the personal data recorded in the first setting unit of the second apparatus with the latest personal data for each user. The first control unit determines that users are the same user when data uniquely provided for the users in the personal data recorded in the first setting unit and the first recording unit are the same.

摘要： In a multi-function input/output device, an optical reading unit optically reads an optically readable code from a device control setting medium on which device control setting information, including use authentication information and unit-control-setting information for a document input control setting unit, a document-data-processing control setting unit, and a document-data-output control setting unit, is recorded. The device control setting information including the use authentication information is recognized from the code read by the optical reading unit. A user authentication unit authenticates the user by using a use authentication code of the use authentication information. A setting processing unit sets the unit-control-setting information based on a recognition result of the device control setting information and the use authentication information.
