摘要： A bent portion (adsorption box) is formed in part of an exhaust pipe connecting exhaust ports and a catalyst for purifying HC or the like in the exhaust gas, and a HC adsorbent of a honeycomb structure is placed forward with respect to the direction in which the exhaust gas travels straight without turning at the bent portion. The exhaust gas flowing from the exhaust ports, turns, and flows into the exhaust pipe, but HC having a large particle size travels straight along rectifier blades to be adsorbed by the HC adsorbent and held for a while. During such process, the catalyst connected to the exhaust pipe is heated up to be activated, thereby for purifying the HC or the like which is desorbed by the temperature rise of the adsorbent. Another HC catalyst may be carried in the front of the adsorbent that is easily heated to a high temperature, or an EGR passage including an EGR control valve may be connected downstream from the adsorbent.

A durability test is performed by raising the catalytic bed temperature higher than that of the vehicle under market driving. The length of the durability test at this time is determined from the relationship between the catalytic bed temperature and the rate of deterioration of the performance of the catalyst so as to give the same degree of deterioration of the performance of the catalyst as with market driving. The length of the durability test required for giving the same degree of deterioration of the performance of the catalyst is much shorter than the market driving time.

摘要： An HC-adsorbent capable of adsorbing various kinds of hydrocarbon including lower and higher hydrocarbon, of which the adsorbable amount per unit volume is large, and which exhibits excellent durability at elevated temperatures. The HC-adsorbent is composed of a first zeolite of ZSM-5 of which the silica/alumina (SiO.sub.2 /Al.sub.2 O.sub.3) mole-ratio is 500 or more, and a second zeolite of Y-type zeolite of which the silica/alumina (SiO.sub.2 /Al.sub.2 O.sub.3) mole-ratio is 200 or more. The second zeolite mainly adsorbs higher hydrocarbon while the first zeolite mainly adsorbs lower hydrocarbon, thus enabling adsorption of many kinds of hydrocarbon.

When a data transfer with a designated transfer length is completed, in order to confirm that writing is completed as to the write destination memory at the end of the data transfer, the inter-memory data transfer control unit performs confirmation of write completion as to the write destination memory at the end of the transfer by the procedure different from writing into the memory. The inter-memory data transfer control unit notifies the processor of completion of an inter-memory data transfer based on the confirmation of write completion.
