    摘要: An engine has a plurality of the cylinders. The cylinders are divided into a first cylinder group and a second cylinder group, and each cylinder group is connected, via a corresponding branch exhaust passage, to a common interconnecting exhaust passage. In the interconnecting exhaust passage, an exhaust gas purifying catalyst is arranged. The air-fuel ratio of the exhaust gas of the first cylinder group is made lean to feed oxygen to the exhaust gas purifying catalyst, and the air-fuel ratio of the second cylinder group is made rich to feed fuel for heating to the exhaust gas purifying catalyst, so that the oxygen and the fuel for heating react with each other to heat the exhaust gas purifying catalyst to reactivate the exhaust gas purifying catalyst when the reactivation of the exhaust gas purifying catalyst is must be performed. In each branch exhaust passage, a start catalyst is arranged.

    摘要: An internal combustion engine in accordance with one aspect of the invention is characterized by comprising a combustion chamber, a reformer, and a control portion. A predetermined fuel component is burnt in the combustion chamber. The reformer has a reforming catalyst, and that produces a reformed gas which contains the fuel component obtained by reforming a mixture of fuel and air and which supplied to the combustion chamber. The control portion sets an air-fuel ratio of the mixture in the reformer such that a reforming efficiency of the reformer is held within a predetermined range, and sets an amount of the mixture supplied to the reformer such that an actual output torque of the internal combustion engine coincides with a target torque.

    摘要: A moisture adsorbent (32) for adsorbing moisture in exhaust gas and an NOx adsorbent (34) for adsorbing NOx are disposed in a bypass passage (30) for bypassing an exhaust passage (16) of an internal combustion engine (10). When an adsorption operation to the NOx adsorbent (34) is executed, inflow of the exhaust gas to the bypass passage (30) is allowed until the moisture amount that flows into the water adsorbent (32) reaches an allowable moisture inflow amount. The allowable moisture inflow amount is determined based on a residual moisture amount before the starting of the adsorption operation in the moisture adsorbent (32). The residual moisture amount in the water adsorbent (32) can be determined based on the temperature of the moisture adsorbent (32) at the immediately preceding execution of the purge operation.

    摘要: An object of the present invention is to provide an exhaust gas purifying apparatus for an internal combustion engine which can successfully desorb predetermined components contained in exhaust gas from adsorption means for adsorbing the components and can successfully purify the desorbed components, even during the stop of the internal combustion engine. A main exhaust passage 42 and a bypass passage 46 bypassing the main exhaust passage 42 are provided. An exhaust switching valve 50 that is capable of switching a flow target into the exhaust gas flows between the main exhaust passage 42 and the bypass passage 46 is provided. An adsorbent 52 for adsorbing the predetermined components contained in the exhaust gas is provided in the bypass passage 46. An underfloor catalyst 56 including a catalyst with an electric heater (EHC) 58 is provided at a downstream side of the bypass passage 46 in the main exhaust passage 42. A pump 68 and a heater 70 are provided in an air supply passage 66 which branches from the bypass passage 46 at an upstream portion of the adsorbent 52.
