摘要: The present invention relates to a cleansing composition based on the composition of lachrymal fluid. The cleansing composition comprises an ionic aqueous base containing one or more electrolytes, a basic protein or amino acid, and optionally, a mucomimetic compound and a lysozyme. The cleansing composition is gentle to both skin and eyes, and is highly effective in removing even transfer-resistant makeup.

摘要: The present invention relates to a method of modulating a selected biological activity of a naturally occurring material having one or more biological activities in an extract of the naturally occurring material, the method comprising incubating the extract in a medium in the presence of an aerobically metabolizing microorganism, under suitable aerobic conditions, for a period of time sufficient to modulate the selected activity with respect to baseline activity of the unincubated extract. The invention also relates to the bioconverted material so prepared, and the use of same in cosmetic or pharmaceutical compositions.

摘要: The invention relates to a water-thin emulsion comprising a non-phospholipid, non-ethoxylated pseudoemulsifier system, the system having a chemical composition with at least one hydrophobic moiety and at least one polar moiety, the size, shape and/or planar arrangement of the hydrophobic and polar moieties being asymmetrical with respect to each other. The emulsion of the invention is prepared by high-pressure homogenization of a crude oil and water emulsion containing the pseudoemulsifier. The emulsions require little or no traditional emulsifier to maintain stability, and are particularly useful in the preparation of multiple emulsions.

摘要: The present invention relates to a method of making a ringing nanogel with low levels of emulsifiers. The oil-in-water nanogel is thickened by an oil phase and a silicone component that self-structure to increase the complex viscosity of the composition and form the nanogel. The pre-emulsion, containing the silicone component, the oil phase and a water phase, is subjected to a high shear and high pressure treatment at least two consecutive times. The self-thickening of the gel occurs when the silicone component and the oil phase provide structure to the composition. Alternatively, the silicone component can be added to a pre-emulsion of the oil and water phases after the two phases are subjected to high shear and high pressure treatment. The combination of the silicone component with the treated intermediary emulsion is subjected to a second high shear and high pressure treatment which results in self-structuring of the silicone component and the oil phase. The resulting ringing nanogel has a difference in complex viscosity of at least about 10,000 poise under oscillation stress in the range of about 0 to 5,000 (dyne/cm2), and has an initial complex viscosity greater than about 15,000 poise.

摘要: The present invention pertains to oil-in-water emulsion compositions having hydrophobic materials stably dispersed therein and methods for making such. The preferred method of making the emulsion compositions the formation of two O/W emulsions. A first O/W emulsion is for wetting or otherwise pre-treating the hydrophobic components. Thereafter, the first emulsion is added to a second O/W emulsion after the second emulsion has been formed. Both emulsions use a ternary surfactant blend of cationic, anionic and bridging surfactants, making the finished product a double or “binary-CAN” emulsion system. Generally, the system has a bi-modal oil droplet distribution.
