Abstract:
A process carried out by a first mobile radio for joining a sub-talkgroup of a first talkgroup includes receiving, via a provisioning process or via an infrastructure wireless communication interface from an infrastructure radio access network (RAN) while within wireless communication range of the RAN, a talkgroup-specific security token associated with and shared by all group mobile radios in a first talkgroup to which the first mobile radio is subscribed via the RAN. The first mobile radio then detects, via a short-range wireless communication interface, a second mobile radio, and authenticates, the second mobile radio using the talkgroup-specific security token. If the authentication is successful, the first mobile radio adds an identity of the second mobile radio to a sub-talkgroup set of mobile radios of the first talkgroup.
Abstract:
A mobile radio (MR) transmits short data during an active time division multiple access (TDMA) call in a wireless communication system. The mobile radio receives first communication media (CM) of the active call in a first slot of a first outbound TDMA logical channel (FLC) of an outbound traffic frequency having a slotting ratio n>=2. The MR transmits short data during at least a portion of a second slot of the FLC, pending short data on an inbound logical data channel of an inbound traffic frequency. The MR then receives second CM of the active call in a third slot of the FLC, and receives missed CM of the active call without specifically identifying the missed CM in any request for re-transmission of missed CM, in a first slot of a second outbound TDMA logical channel of the outbound traffic frequency.
Abstract:
A method, device, and system for creating a communication group among a plurality of mobile communication devices. The method includes creating, at a first mobile communication device, a first trigger condition that includes detection of a second mobile communication device in an area defined by an area definition. A context data message that includes the first trigger condition and the area definition is sent by the first mobile communication device. When the first trigger condition occurs and when the first mobile communication device is outside the area, a communication group is established with the first mobile communication device and the second mobile communication device.
Abstract:
A process carried out by a first mobile radio includes detecting a request to transmit group communication media and, responsively, determining, by the first mobile radio, whether a push-to-talk (PTT) key input is in an activated or de-activated state, selecting, by the first mobile radio and as a function of the determined state of the PTT key, one of a first talkgroup on a first wireless network and a second talkgroup on a second wireless network as a target talkgroup to transmit the communication media to, and transmitting, by the first mobile radio via a corresponding one of a first wireless communication interface to the first wireless network and a second wireless communication interface to the second wireless network, the communication media to the selected target talkgroup.
Abstract:
Communication groups are formed based on mobile station location history. The process includes receiving, at a controller device, a group formation request from a requesting device, the request specifying a location and a time window, identifying one or more mobile stations determined to be within a threshold area relative to the location during the time window, and causing a communication group to be created including the identified one or more mobile stations. A further process includes a requesting device configured to identify a location and time window associated with an event, transmit a group formation request specifying the location and the time window and requesting formation of a communication group comprising mobile stations located within a threshold area relative to the location during the time window, and transmit using a communication group identifier provided to the requesting device.
Abstract:
In an emergency, a gateway application, which has been installed on a mobile communications device, is actuated to advise a public safety answering point (PSAP) in a public safety (PS) network of the emergency, and to disable restrictions on application downloading to the mobile device. Once the emergency has been confirmed by the PSAP, an emergency application, which has been selected by the PSAP, is downloaded to the mobile device. The downloaded emergency application can be executed by the PSAP and/or by a PS person, to remotely control the mobile device to help remedy the emergency. The downloaded emergency application can be removed from the mobile device upon closing of the emergency.
Abstract:
During operation a first personal-area network will activate a first camera. The first camera may be manually activated, or triggered by an audio signal. The event that causes the first camera to activate will also cause the personal-area network to send an acoustic signature to other personal-area networks. Personal-area networks that receive the acoustic signature will modify audio triggers so that the acoustic signature can be better distinguished from other noises.
Abstract:
A device and method for adjusting data communications in presence systems is provided. For a given communication device, of a plurality of communication devices, a controller of server determines a number of the plurality of communication devices that are actively watching presence data associated with the given communication device. Based on the number, the controller adjusts data communications of the given communication device.
Abstract:
A method, device, and system for creating a communication group among a plurality of mobile communication devices. The method includes creating a first trigger condition, at a first mobile communication device, the first trigger condition including detection of a second mobile communication device in an area. A context data message that includes the first trigger condition and the area definition is sent by the first mobile communication device to a communication beacon having a range that includes the area. When the first trigger condition occurs and when the first mobile communication device is outside the area, receive a group call at the first mobile communication device from the second mobile communication device.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for providing images on a camera is provided herein. During operation a server will utilize a vehicle's speed and direction. Images from cameras will then be provided to the vehicle/user based on the vehicle speed and direction. In addition, cameras will have their pan/tilt/zoom (PTZ) adjusted based on the vehicle speed and direction of travel in order to eliminate/prevent overlapping the area that is surveyed by a moving observer.
