    摘要: A supported polymerisation catalyst system comprises a porous support, a polymerisation catalyst and a cocatalyst wherein the support has been treated with an inert material such as polyisobutene. The support is preferably silica and is preferably treated with the inert material prior to contact with the other components. Preferably the polymerisation catalyst is a metallocene and the polymerisation catalyst system reduces the initial peak isotherm allowing for a smoother activity increase in particular for polymerisations carried out in the gas phase.

The prefer transition metal compound is a metallocene and the supported catalyst systems are suitable for the preparation of polymers having broad molecular weight distributions and improved melt strength.

    摘要: A process for the polymerisation of olefins is described involving the use of a catalyst system comprising a supported transition metal compound and an activator based on an organoborane and an aluminoxane. Preferably the transition metal compound is a metallocene complex. The support is pretreated with an organoaluminium compound and the process is particularly suitable for the gas phase preparation of copolymers of ethylene and alpha-olefins having a molecular weight distribution in the range 2.5-7.0 and a melt strength in the range 3-12 cN.

    摘要: A process for the homopolymerisation of ethylene or the copolymerisation of ethylene and (a-olefins in a polymeristation reactor, said process carried out in the presence of a catalyst system comprising (a) a polymerisation catalyst and (b) an ionic activator is characterised in that an organometallic compound of a Group IIIB metal having at least one unit of formula: Mç0çR or Mç0çM where M is the Group IIIB metal and R is a hydrocarbyl group is added to the reactor. Preferred organometallic compounds include aluminoxanes and the process results in improved poison scavenging as well as advantages in activity profiles, catalyst activity and product characteristics. The process is particularly suitable for use with supported metallocene catalyst systems in the slurry or gas phase.
