In this way, even with a great distance between the electrodes of the lamp and a high gas filling pressure, the operating properties of the lamp can be improved and it can be reliably operated at a low breakdown voltage.

摘要： In a data recording apparatus, a monitoring unit detects a VLU including an MRB that manages an area that has not been accessed for a specified time period based on a current time, a time management table, and a parameter table. From MRBs of the detected VLU, the monitoring unit selects a plurality of MRBs with an unaccessed time period equal to or more than the specified time period and equal to or less than a total time. The monitoring unit performs synchronization process for data in a primary storage managed by the selected MRBs at a time. During the synchronization process, a correction value is adjusted when there is a data conflict with another device.

摘要： A tape library control apparatus includes a storage for storing configuration information, a diagnostic evaluator, and a command controller. A tape library apparatus includes may include a plurality of tape drives and a plurality of magnetic tapes which includes specific magnetic tapes assigned for respective pieces of data specified by each data request issued by a host computer and a common magnetic tape provided for writing the respective pieces of the data. The diagnostic evaluator determines a use mode of the tape library apparatus on the basis of the configuration information. When the total number of the specific magnetic tapes is higher than the number of available tape drives, the use mode is determined and a command is issued to the tape library apparatus from the command controller to write data to the specific magnetic tape and to write to the common magnetic tape the respective pieces of the data.

摘要： A joint comprising a pillow ball having a spherical portion, a bearing for rotatably supporting the spherical portion, and a housing for housing the bearing. The housing has therein a housing bore having a first step for contacting one end of the bearing, a large bore contiguous to the housing bore via a second step, and an attaching bore contiguous to the large bore for receiving a dustproof covering. The depth of the first step is substantially equal to the axial length of the bearing. The joint further comprises an annular plug inserted into the large bore. The annular plug has a taper tapering off toward the side opposite to the housing bore, and the annular plug is pressed and secured onto the second step by caulking or deforming the inside of the housing to fit the taper. The annular plug and the bearing are thus prevented from coming out of the large bore and the housing bore, respectively. The composing members of the joint are simple in their structure and can be easily manufactured and assembled. After the joint is inserted into a mounting hole in a link mechanism, the caulked periphery of the housing is protected from the outside, thus enhancing the corrosion resistance of the joint.

摘要： Hierarchical storage management is performed using a primary storage device and a secondary storage device. A suppression process unit suppresses the data operation requested by another device if data requested to read by the device is not stored in the primary device. A block size setting process unit sets the data size of a block, based on the size of the data requested to read when storing the data in the primary device in units of blocks. A data writing process unit writes data read from the secondary device into the primary device one and after in units of the blocks whose data size is set if the data requested to read is not stored in the primary device. A release process unit releases the suppression of data operation of only already written data one and after every time the data is written into the primary device.
