摘要: An automatic transmission having high pressure actuation and low pressure lube includes a hydraulic circuit (110) having a source of pressurized fluid (112), an actuation circuit (114) that delivers pressurized fluid to actuate components of the transmission, and a cooling circuit (116) used to cool components of the transmission. The source of pressurized fluid includes a motor 118, a first pump 120 operatively driven by the motor 118, and a second pump 122 selectively driven by motor 118. A clutch mechanism 124 is connected between the motor 118 and the second pump 122 so as to selectively engage and disengage the second pump 122 in driven relationship with the motor 118 so that the second pump 122 selectively supplies pressurized fluid to the cooling circuit 116 when the clutch mechanism 124 is engaged.

摘要: A software calibration strategy for calibrating solenoid controlled valves and valve systems in an automatic transmission. The strategy includes identifying a characteristic equation for the valve or valve system that is a mathematical relationship between a current applied to the solenoid and the pressure at the output of the valve or valve system. The valve or valve system is coupled to a test stand that depicts the operation of the valve or valve system in the transmission. Current signals are applied to the valve or valve system, and the output pressures are measured to determine coefficients in the equation using a curve fitting function. The coefficients are then stored in a control unit.

摘要: Calibration data transfer systems are described for use in conjunction with, for example, automotive components such as but not limited to transmission systems. The systems employ devices, such as but not limited to barcode systems such as 2D barcodes, radio frequency identification devices (RFID), digital data storage systems such as CD-ROM's, and the like, to record and/or store data thereon. The data can include information, such as but not limited to solenoid calibration curve coefficients and the like. The data contained on these devices can be accessed by a data retrieval system, such as a scanner, and transferred, for example, to a transmission control unit.

The hydraulic valve includes a valve body having a valve bore and at least one inlet and at least one outlet adapted to provide fluid communication with a source of pressurized hydraulic fluid and a return to the source of pressure. A valve member is slidingly disposed within the valve body that includes at least one valve element having an outer diameter and a metering face. The metering face is adapted to control the flow of pressurized hydraulic fluid between the inlet and the outlet of the valve body. The metering face includes a flow force compensating annular void disposed adjacent to the outer diameter that is defined by a lead angle α measured between the outer surface and a line intersecting the outer surface and tangential to the annular void.

The microprocessor includes logic in order to control drivers for at least one solenoid. The communications bus is operably connected to the microprocessor so that the communications bus and the microprocessor communicate with one another. The communication bus communicates with an outside transmission control unit. The solenoid driver is electrically connected between the microprocessor and the solenoid, such that the microprocessor commands the solenoid driver to alter the position of the solenoid.

摘要: A hydraulic circuit for controlling the application of pressurized cooling fluid to the clutches of a dual clutch transmission including a cooling unit in fluid communication with a source of the pressurized cooling fluid and adapted to exchange heat from the cooling fluid with another media. The circuit also includes at least one regulator in fluid communication with the source of the pressurized cooling fluid and separately in fluid communication with the cooling unit, and with the clutches. The regulator is adapted to operatively provide the cooling fluid to the clutches. The circuit further includes at least one control actuator adapted to selectively control the regulator to provide a first variable predetermined amount of cooling fluid from the cooling unit to the clutches as primary cooling, and to provide a second variable predetermined amount of cooling fluid from the source to the clutches thereby supplementing the cooling fluid from the cooling unit.

摘要: A bi-directional overrunning clutch assembly employed in connection with a reduced capacity low friction clutch to provide low and reverse gears in a transmission. The clutch assembly including an inner race, an outer race, and engagement members supported therebetween. The inner race is operatively coupled to the transmission casing and the outer race is operatively coupled to the ring gear of the gear set as well as the inner race of the friction clutch assembly. The clutch assembly further includes at least one actuating cam. The actuating cam operates to actuate the engagement members to provide four separate modes of operation between the inner and outer races of the clutch assembly. More specifically, the cam is operable to (1) disengage the engagement members to provide freewheeling between the inner and outer races in both rotational directions; (2) to actuate engagement members so that torque is translated in one rotational direction but to allow freewheeling in the opposite rotational direction; (3) to actuate the engagement members so that torque is translated in a direction opposite to that in mode (2) above, but allow freewheeling in the rotational direction opposite to that in which torque is translated in this mode; and (4) to actuate the engagement members so that the inner and outer races are locked relative to each other and torque is translated in both rotational directions.

摘要: A method of controlling the engagement force of the synchronizers of a dual clutch transmission having a plurality of synchronizers to selectively engage and disengage various gear sets, and a plurality of shift actuators adapted to move the synchronizers. The method includes the steps of initiating a control routine to pressurize a shift actuator to move a synchronizer to a predetermined engagement position and determining the necessary level of force required to move the desired shift actuator to the predetermined engagement position such that the engagement movement is effected without excessive force. The method also includes the steps of determining the hydraulic pressure that corresponds to the determined level of force and varying the amount of available hydraulic line pressure delivered to the shift actuator such that the delivered pressure is the amount that corresponds to the determined level of force.
