摘要: A method to identify small molecules useful as therapeutics and/or vaccines to prevent, alleviate or ameliorate a pathogenic infection or an autoimmune disorder. The method can be used to screen small molecule test compounds for the ability to disrupt particular antigen-antibody interactions of interest. In one embodiment, the antigen is a pathogen-derived antigen and the antibody decreases or inhibits virulence of the pathogen when bound to the antigen (e.g., a neutralizing antibody, antibody with serum bactericidal activity, etc.). In another embodiment, the antigen is a self-antigen (autoantigen) and the antibody is an autoantibody that is known to be associated with a pathological condition (e.g., autoimmune disorder). Compounds that bind to the antigen or antibody disrupt binding can be used as therapeutics to decrease or inhibit the autoimmune disorder.

摘要: A narrow ink jet printhead having four columnar arrays of ink drop generators configured for monochrome single-pass printing at a print resolution having a media axis dot spacing that is less than the columnar nozzle spacing of the ink drop generators. The ink jet printhead more particularly includes high resistance heater resistors and efficient FET drive circuits that are configured to compensate for variation in parasitic resistance presented by power traces.

摘要: An ink jet printhead is provided with an orifice plate connected to the barrier layer, spaced apart from the substrate second major surface, enclosing the ink manifold, and defining a plurality of orifice apertures, each associated with a respective ink energizing element, wherein the orifice plate has a planar plate defining the plurality of orifice apertures and at least one groove. The at least one groove extends from an ink feed slot region of the inkjet printhead to a bubble collection area adjacent to an end firing chamber located beyond the ink feed slot region to facilitate guiding bubbles away from critical areas.

摘要: Method and apparatus to automatically monitor and control a perfusion hyperthermia treatment using a system including one or more programmed computers, and mechanical and sensor subsystems. The system includes a fluid path between a patient and an external fluid-treatment subsystem, wherein control of the external fluid-treatment subsystem includes feedback from sensors coupled to the patient. The resulting integrated system provides automated monitoring and control of the patient, the external fluid-treatment subsystem, and the treatment. In one embodiment, the fluid passing between the patient and the external fluid-treatment subsystem is blood. In one embodiment, an apparatus and method are provided for using a computerized system for a perfusion hyper/hypothermia treatment of a patient which obtains a body fluid having a temperature. A plurality of temperature signals representative of temperatures at each of a plurality of patient locations on or within the patient are coupled to the computer system. Measured temperatures are compared to a set of stored parameters in the computer system to generate a comparison value which controls a change in the temperature of the body fluid. The body fluid is then perfused into the patient to either warm, cool, or maintain the current temperature of the patient. In one such embodiment, the body fluid is blood withdrawn from the patient. In another such embodiment, the body fluid is saline.

摘要: A single flow valve is disclosed for use in a hypodermic needle. The flow valve comprises a valve chamber interposed between the needle and a syringe connector, and valve means mounted within the valve chamber. The valve means controls fluid flow through the valve chamber to a single-shot of fluid in one direction, and has a normal partially tensioned position, an optimum tensioned position on one side of the normal partially tensioned position, and a latched closed position on the opposite side of the normal partially tensioned position. The valve means is movable to its optimum tensioned position in response to fluid flow through the valve chamber in the one direction. The valve means is movable from the optimum tensioned position to its latched closed position in response to the inherent tension therein when the flow of fluid is abated. In the latched closed position, further fluid flow through the valve chamber in the one direction is prevented.

摘要: Some embodiments of the present invention provide a system that tests a software program. During operation, the system creates a behavioral model of the software program using branches, decisions, and options. Next, the system generates a test case from the behavioral model and executes the test case on the software program. Finally, the system analyzes an output of the executed test case to determine a validity of the software program.
