摘要: A single view display of reduced power consumption is provided. The display comprises a display device for displaying the single view and an optical system for concentrating light modulated by the single view into a reduced angular range. A viewer direction determining system determines the direction of a viewer relative to the display and controls the display device and the optical system so that the angular range includes the direction of the viewer.

摘要: A light emitting diode (LED) is provided along with a method of making the same. The LED includes a conductive n-type region formed on a substrate; an active region formed on the n-type region; a first p-type region formed on the active region; a plurality of nanostructures formed on the first p-type region to carry out light extraction from the active region, the nanostructures having a diameter less than 500 nm; a second p-type region regrown on the first p-type region to form a non-planar surface in combination with the nanostructures; and a p-type electrode formed on the non-planar surface.

摘要: A display which includes an array of pixels. Each pixel includes a hydrophobic layer; an electro-wetting fluid adjacent the hydrophobic layer, the electro-wetting fluid including at least first and second fluids immiscible with each other and having different polar properties and different optical properties; and at least one electrode wherein application of a voltage to the electrode alters a wetting effect of the electro-wetting fluid on the hydrophobic layer in a light-modulating area of the pixel. The display further includes a light-concentrating substrate including an array of light-concentrating structures each configured to concentrate light onto the light-modulating area of a corresponding one or more pixels within the array of pixels.
