    摘要: In solvent-dominated recovery processes for recovering In situ oil, including bitumen, the produced fluid stream includes oil and solvent. The solvent is preferably recovered and reinjected into the reservoir. In previously described methods, solvent is removed from the oil/solvent mixture. In the present method, the oil/solvent mixture is first separated into a heavier stream and a lighter stream from which solvent is independently removed.

    摘要: The invention is a process for producing a mixture of wax and crude oil which can be pumped at ambient temperature. The wax is preferably a Fisher-Tropsch wax. The temperature of the crude oil is controlled to a level below the dissolution temperature of the wax. The wax crystals are homogenized and dispersed into the crude oil to form a mixture. The present invention prevents the wax from dissolving in the crude oil and subsequently re-crystallizing at lower temperatures which can substantially increase the viscosity of the mixture thereby decreasing the effectiveness of transporting the mixture.

    摘要: Methods are provided for predicting the properties of an asphalt fraction that contains two or more asphalt components based on measurements of the viscosity versus temperature profile for the components of the asphalt fraction. The viscosity versus temperature profile for each component can be used to determine characteristic (such as limiting) values for the viscosity and temperature for a component. Based on this ability to determine characteristic values for an asphalt blend based on the properties of individual blend components, appropriate blends of asphalts can be selected in order to arrive at an asphalt blend with desired properties.

    摘要: An apparatus and method for determining at least one of the temperatures at which a petroleum product will manifest delayed haze and the temperature at which haze will not exist in the product is provided. The apparatus comprises a container for holding a sample of the product, a light source, light detector, heaters and coolers combined with microprocessor means for storing and analyzing at least one of light transmitted or scattered by the sample. Measurements are useful in determining the haze properties of the product and also for controlling a dehazing process to meet target haze properties.
