摘要： A gas discharge display panel which provides sufficient contrast and good accuracy and is high in yield. When a voltage is applied to auxiliary discharge electrodes, auxiliary discharge occurs in an auxiliary discharge space and excited charged particles communicate with a main discharge space through a priming path made in a discharge space separation bulkhead. In this state, when an alternating voltage is applied between bus electrodes on a front substrate, main discharge occurs in the main discharge space, causing Xe atoms in the sealed gas to generate ultraviolet rays, causing a phosphor to emit light. However, since the auxiliary discharge is shielded by a bulkhead and a barrier rib, the phosphor does not emit light when only auxiliary discharge occurs.

摘要： A plasma display panel driving system and method for a display panel having a first common electrode and first independent electrodes arranged at a back plate side, a second common electrode and second independent electrodes arranged at a face plate side, an inner partition positioned between the first common and independent electrodes at the back plate side and the second common and independent electrodes at the face plate side and having an aperture therein connecting a space at the back plate side and a space at the face plate side, and a fluorescent layer arranged in the space at the face plate side. The driving system and method includes a driver for driving the first and second independent and common electrodes through a full writing period, a front surface erasing period, a writing period, and a discharge sustaining period, including supplying a first full writing pulse to the first common electrode at the back plate side and a second full writing pulse having a polarity which is opposite to the polarity of the first full writing pulse to the first independent electrodes at the back plate side for causing discharge between the first common and independent electrodes in the full writing period.

摘要： A plasma display apparatus is disclosed, in which a plurality of pixels are arranged in dot matrix, at least one first electrode specifies the addresses of the pixels, a set of electrodes including a second electrode and a third electrode are arranged in a plurality of pixels for generating a pixel display plasma, and a phosphor member arranged in a plurality of pixels for illuminating light due to the ultraviolet light generated from the pixel display plasma. In the process of driving the plasma display apparatus, the pixel display plasma is erased by applying a plurality of erase pulses with progressively shorter pulse durations and intervals alternately between selected two of the first, second and third electrodes.

摘要： To achieve an expansion of color reproducibility and an improvement in contrast ratio, color filters 8R, 8G and 8B formed in stripes are successively arranged on one surface of a front glass substrate 1, interposing a black matrixes 7 between them. Sustaining electrodes 6 are provided thereon and a dielectric layer 9 and a protecting layer 10 are provided. On a rear glass substrate 2, barrier ribs 3 are provided in the manner they face the respective black matrixes 7, and thus the spaces between the barrier ribs 3 facing the respective color filters 8R, 8G and 8B form cells. The cells are respectively provided with the sustaining electrodes 6 falling at right angles with the address electrodes 4, coated with fluorescent substances 5R, 5G and 5B corresponding to the respective colors, and also sealed to hold discharge gas therein. A wave band selecting filter 11 for screening the light emitted from the discharge gas in the respective cells is provided on the other surface of the front glass substrate 1.

摘要： In an operation of an address period for addressing cells of a display device, such as a plasma display panel, comprising a plurality of cells of three kinds, red (R), green (G), blue (B), which are arranged on a plane for forming a display surface thereof, in which each of said cells comprising: a pair of transparent electrodes provided in parallel to each other; an address electrode being positioned opposing the pair of transparent electrodes; luminescence medium provided on the address electrode; and a discharge space being defined between the pair of transparent electrodes and said fluorescence medium on the address electrode, wherein the address discharge is conducted by applying an address voltage to the address electrode, and the address voltage applied is determined depending upon the each kind of the cells, R, G and B.

Particularly, it is disclosed that the technique for conducting the reset operation by impressing, to the electrode of cells, a plurality of reset pulses per one subfield in the subfield period for the reset operation and then conducting the address operation for selecting cells for display discharge. Further, it is disclosed that the display technique for causing the cells of display panel to conduct display discharge for image display through the reset operation and address operation. 摘要： A display apparatus includes a display panel including address electrodes and sustain electrodes crossing the address electrodes, with pixels being sandwiched between the address electrodes and the sustain electrodes. A sustain-electrode drive circuit selectively generates both sustain pulses and scan pulses and supplies them to the sustain electrodes. An address-electrode drive circuit generates address pulses based on a video signal and supplies the address pulses to the address electrodes. A control-signal generation circuit generates a control signal for controlling the sustain-electrode drive circuit to generate a selected one of the sustain pulses and the scan pulses and supplies the control signal to the sustain-electrode drive circuit. In order to display an image on the display panel, the sustain-electrode drive circuit both specifies addresses of pixels to be turned on and turns on the pixels at the specified addresses.

摘要： As is obvious from the description in the specification and the attached drawings, the present invention provides a display apparatus for displaying an image on a display panel by turning on pixels of said display panel, said display apparatus comprising: a display panel provided with: address electrodes driven by address pulses based on a video input signal; and sustain electrodes crossing said address electrodes and sandwiching electrical discharging units of pixels with said address electrodes and driven by sustain pulses; a sustain-electrode drive circuit for generating said sustain pulses and scan pulses, provided with a common circuit for generating said sustain pulses or said scan pulses in response to an operating state thereof and for supplying said scan pulses and said sustain pulses to said sustain electrodes.
