摘要： The present invention provides an apparatus and system for mixing castable polyurethanes for dispensing into a golf ball mold for application to a golf ball sub-assembly. The apparatus comprises a mixing block for merging together at least two polyurethane components, then a temperature control chamber to remove excess heat that is produced by the exothermic reaction resulting from the mixing of the urethane components. The mixing of the components is by passing the components through a tortuous mixing path created by a disposable static mixer element. The mixed components are dispensed into the golf ball mold by a multiple lead nozzle assembly.

摘要： A method for reliably forming golf balls using solid cores is described. The method includes using a freezing apparatus to freeze a core. The core may be frozen at any desired temperature, for any desired duration. The time and duration may be chosen in order to achieve a desired size or effective modulus. When a core is sufficiently frozen, it may be placed in a molding apparatus. In order to minimize condensation or frost that may form on a frozen core, a dehumidifying method or apparatus may be included and a layer is preferably molded around the core soon after it is removed from the freezing apparatus.

摘要： The present invention is directed to an apparatus and method for venting trapped air and gasses in a mold. The mold and method comprise or use at least one pin formed from multiple pin sections. When assembled, the pin sections provide space on the interior of the pin through which trapped air and gasses can escape from the mold. The present invention may also be used to assist in ejecting an object from the mold. The pins can have circular or non-circular cross-sections and also may have dimple-forming projections to conform to a golf ball dimple pattern.

摘要： A method of molding a layer of a reaction injection molding material about a golf ball component is disclosed. The method comprises holding a bottom portion of the component horizontally in a retaining cavity of retaining member to expose a top portion of the component; positioning the exposed top portion of the component in a top mold cavity of a top mold portion; molding a top portion of the layer from the material over the top portion of the component; disengaging the retaining member from the component to expose the bottom portion thereof; holding the molded top portion of the layer by the top mold portion; positioning the exposed bottom portion of the component in a bottom mold cavity of a bottom mold portion; molding a bottom portion of the layer from the material over the bottom portion of the component; and removing the golf ball product with the molded layer from the first and second molded portions.

摘要： An improved mold for making a golf ball comprises a pair of mold cups which are assembled together at an angular interlock. An upper mold cup has a projection rim that mates with a recess in the lower mold cup to provide for a substantially perfect registration, wherein the shift on the molded golf ball is minimized, and the parting line has a minimal amount of flashing that needs to be removed. The upper and lower mold cups have mating surfaces that can produce a corrugated parting line. Each mating surface comprising a plurality of peaks and valleys which are created by multiple radii, whereby when assembled the parting line follows the dimple outline pattern and allows the dimple outline pattern of one mold cup to interdigitate with the dimple outline pattern of the mating mold cup, to form a golf ball of substantially seamless appearance.

The mold and method comprise or use members with projections for forming multiple dimples on the core. The members can be retractable pins or sleeves or vent pins. In the case of the retractable pins, sets of pins with multiple dimple projections on the ends thereof are used to center the golf ball core within the mold. The members can have circular or non-circular cross-sections so that the dimple-forming projections can conform to any dimple pattern.

A nozzle framework includes support housing heaters and heater adaptors for each dispensing port to delay the onset of drool and improve cut off in the dispensing tubes. The combination of fluorinated dispensing ports, the heating of the polyureas or polyurethanes, and inclusion of a capillary orifice in each dispensing port significantly prolongs the time before the advent of drool is detected.
