摘要: A station includes a reservation request transmitter, a bandwidth request transmitter, and a data transmitter. The reservation request transmitter transmits a reservation request to an access point during a contention slot specified by the access point. The contention slot is periodically allocated by the access point. The bandwidth request transmitter transmits a bandwidth request to the access point using a first allocated bandwidth allocated to the station as a response to the reservation request. The bandwidth request has a first data structure different from a second data structure of the reservation request, and includes information indicating a required bandwidth for transmitting a data to be transmitted. The data transmitter transmits the data using a second allocated bandwidth allocated to the station based on the required bandwidth.

摘要: Method and apparatus for controlling transmission of a data stream from a station. A QoS registration frame is received, via an access point, from the station. The QoS registration frame includes information indicating a request for transmission of a data stream from the station, and information indicating a minimum required interval and a maximum required interval for an interval which is between start points of two successive durations of a medium dedication. Each duration of the medium dedication represents a time period in which the station is permitted to transmit the data stream. A schedule for the transmission of the data stream is calculated by setting a new interval which is between the minimum required interval and the maximum required interval, when the transmission is admitted. A QoS response frame, which includes information indicating the schedule, is then transmitted from the access point to the station.

摘要: The present invention provides a method and system for efficiently scheduling wireless LAN traffic, giving the network the ability to serve both real-time and non-real time applications concurrently, while maintaining a requested level of quality of service for the real time application. It describes a method for scheduling quality of service traffic and a method to optimize this schedule thereby reducing the overall amount of time that is required for serving quality of service traffic (which is coordinated by a centralized network coordinator entity) and increasing the bandwidth available for non-real-time traffic. One application of such a scheduler would be WLANs that carry AV streams, such as may be found in a home based WLAN. Furthermore, a method is provided for announcing the schedule to all nodes in a wireless network to, for example, implement a power savings feature, thereby optimizing battery life and reducing the size and weight of portable network access terminals.

摘要: A system of managing collaborative session control when controller is lost or changes to passive-control mode in a data communication network comprising of a control-capable terminal device that can generate and send user preferences on successive controller selection and control policy, a master server device that can make control transfer decisions or take over control upon events, a normal terminal device that can process and response to master server queries on control capacity and its willingness to take over control. These apparatus are connected to each other inside one collaborative session, regardless of their subscriptions. A method of control management of the collaborative session without constant enrollment of controller comprises the steps of sending different types of preferences to master server device; making control transfer or handover decision; and interacting with affected terminals.

摘要: A mobile terminal that ensures smooth, continuous communications sessions even when in transit, regardless of base station capabilities and functionalities, in a packet-switched data communications network. With this terminal, each of a plurality of lower interfaces 101-1 to 101-M, when its associated access mechanism is in an active state, can obtain a connection to packet-switched data communications network 150 using its home-address HoA.1 or its care-of-address CoA.BS1. When lower interface 101-a loses its connection obtained using the care-of-address CoA.BS1, multiple access decision unit 104 instructs mobility support unit 102 to set up a binding of the home-address HoA.1 and either one of the home-address HoA.2 and the care-of-address CoA.BS2 of another lower interface 101-b. Mobility support unit 102 sets up the binding according to the instruction from multiple access decision unit 104.
