    摘要: The thin-type display device (1) with a vacuum envelope has a transparent front wall (3), which is provided with a display screen, and at least an electron source (5) and a duct structure, which cooperates with the electron source (5) and which extends substantially parallel to the front wall (3). Ducts (6, 6', 6") of the duct structure serve as electron-propagation means and are provided with walls (11, 11', 11") of an electrically insulating material having a secondary emission coefficient which is suitable for electron propagation. In the display device (1) 1.ltoreq.s/w.ltoreq.5 and s.multidot.w.gtoreq.5 mm.sup.2, where s is the depth of the ducts (6, 6', 6") and w is the width of the ducts (6, 6', 6"). Preferably, the width w.gtoreq.1.5 mm and the depth 3.5.ltoreq.s.ltoreq.15 mm. The voltage difference over the length of the ducts (6, 6', 6"), measured parallel to the front wall (3), is less than 75 V/cm, preferably less than 40 V/cm.

    摘要: A method for providing a resistive focusing lens structure for an electron beam device including forming a suspension of particles of a mixture of, by weight, of about 33-50% of an oxidic conductive material including about 40-60% of a lead ruthenate, about 25-38% of a lead titanate and about 2-15% of a ruthenium oxide, and of about 50-67% of a glass including about 30-40% of silicon dioxide (SiO.sub.2), about 3-7.5% alumina (Al.sub.2 O.sub.3), and about 53-67% of lead oxide (PbO) in a suspending medium consisting essentially of a non-acidic liquid having a boiling point of less than 150.degree. C., applying the suspension to an inside surface of a glass member to thereby provide a coating of the particles on the inside surface, firing the coating at a temperature of 700-900.degree. C. and before of after firing the coating, patterning the coating. The present method provides highly reproducible resistive focusing lens structures.

The electrodes (31, 32, 41) are provided with securing means (48) for connection to an insulating supporting body (47) and with apertures (16) for passing the electron beams (7-9). Electrode (32) protrudes toward electrode (31) in such a way that the mutual distance (l2) between the two electrodes at the location of the apertures (16) therein is smaller than their mutual distance (l1) at the location of their respective securing means (48). The two electrodes (31, 32) are spaced apart at the location of the apertures (16) substantially at a distance limited by electrostatic breakdown.

    摘要: A phosphor screen in a display device is scanned by separate electron beams in order to generate images of different frequency content in one color in substantially the same part of the phosphor screen. The different images can be perceived as a composite image for some time. The individual electron beams can be modulated by means of a cathode modulator on the basis of a high frequency and a low frequency component of an electronic image signal or on the basis of an image component and a text component of an electronic image signal. The modulations of the individual electron beams may be slightly delayed relative to one another in order to avoid overloading of the phosphor material.
