摘要： An apparatus and method for calibrating the reel of an agricultural windrower, wherein a programmable control module in connection with a signal operated device in operative control of a variable displacement pump operable for controlling operation of the reel, is programmed as part of an automatic calibration routine for directing signals to the device having different values, for rotating the reel at two different speeds. The controller will then determine a characteristic algorithm or relationship between reel speed and signal value which will be predictive of reel speeds which will be achieved for a range of signal values.

摘要： The metal detector circuitry for a forage harvester is provided with a socket for receiving a pluggable unit, the arrangement being such that a resistor in the pluggable unit is connected into the detection circuitry of a metal detector whereby the sensitivity of the metal detector may be changed by inserting into the socket a pluggable unit containing a resistor of a different value. A metal detector test assembly connected to the metal detector through the socket, provides a means for testing the sensitivity of the metal detector and its associated circuitry. The test assembly includes a signal unit which is placed adjacent the metal detector sensing unit and generates a magnetic field that is sensed by the sensing unit, and a test box with circuitry, indicators and switches for selectively checking the sensitivity of the metal detector and correct operation of its associated circuitry.

摘要： A potentiometer is driven by one of the serpentine arm assemblies used to maintain apron tension during formation of a round bale so that the output of the potentiometer continuously provides an indication of the size of a bale being formed in the baler. A microprocessor based control circuit senses the output of the potentiometer, converts it to a digital value, and compares the digital value with a value representing a desired bale size. When the two values are equal, the microprocessor computes the number of revolutions of a net feed roll that is required to wrap the bale a preselected number of times, energizes the net feed roll mechanism to feed net into the bale forming chamber, and counts the revolutions of the net feed roll. When the required amount of net has been dispensed, the microprocessor stops the net feed roll and activates a mechanism to cut the net. The size of a "full bale" is selected by actuating keys on a control panel. An offset is automatically provided to compensate for wear in the apron mechanism affecting the "zero" setting of the bale size sensor. The system permits signalling the operator to steer left or right along a windrow to control bale shape as the bale being formed in the chamber increases in diameter, the signalling rate being non-linear with respect to bale diameter.

摘要： Apparatus for dispensing a preservative or other substance, in solid or liquid form, onto a crop material being baled, the substance being dispensed onto the crop material before it is baled at a rate which is dependent on the moisture content of the crop material and the bulk rate of flow of crop material through the baler. The apparatus, which may be mounted on a square baler or a round baler, includes a first sensor for sensing the moisture content of the crop material and producing a first signal, a second sensor for producing an output signal indicative of the bulk rate of corp flow through the baler, and a control circuit responsive to the first signal and the second signal for producing a pulse width modulated signal for controlling the speed of a motor. The motor controls the rate at which the substance is dispensed from a container onto the crop material.

摘要： In a two-channel magnetic metal detector having first and second mutually inductively coupled detection coils connected to first and second detection channels, respectively, the inductance of the coils is tested by applying a square wave test signal to the first detection coil and determining if the resulting output signal from the second detection channel has a magnitude falling within a range of magnitudes defined by two threshold values stored in a non-volatile memory. A microcomputer applies digital signals to a digital to analog converter to generate the square wave. The output signal from the second detection channel is repetitively sampled and digitized and the digital values are transferred to the microcomputer which includes means for comparing the digital values with the threshold values. If a comparison determines that the magnitude of the output signal from the second detection channel does not fall within the range of magnitudes defined by the threshold values, the microcomputer generates an error indication.

摘要： Under the control of a microprocessor first and second motors alternately drive first and second ends of a shear bar for adjusting the position of the shear bar relative to cutter head. The shear bar is adjusted so that it is substantially parallel to the cutter head even though the cutter head and shear bar may not be parallel at the time the adjustment is initiated. A knock sensor is provided for sensing impacts between the cutter head and shear bar, the knock sensor output signal being converted to a digital value for controlling the adjusting sequence. A knocker is provided for inducing vibrations in the shear bar to thereby test the operability of the knock sensor and its output circuitry. The sensitivity of the adjustment system to the output of the knock sensor is set automatically before an adjustment sequence begins to account for variations in the knock sensor, its output circuitry, and "noise" vibrations induced in the shear bar by normal machine operation.

摘要： Metal detectors having parallel magnetic fields produce signals which vary depending upon the shape and orientation of a metal object passing through the field. An improved metal detector sensor includes a magnet of special configuration having a multi-directional magnetic field resulting in a detector which is insensitive to orientation of the detected metal. One embodiment of the magnet is a pattern of cylindrical poles with the opposing pole central to the cylinder, thus creating a multiplicity of radially extending magnet fields. An alternate embodiment of the invention is an offset pattern of opposite poles which create two groups of fields, each at an angle to the general direction of movement of the material fed into the machine.
