    摘要: Pumpdown toolstring for performing operations requiring application of power downhole in horizontal or high-deviation oil or gas wells, comprising an elongate toolstring element (30), locomotive devices (31, 32A) on said toolstring element, with at least one locomotive device (32) provided at a trailing or top end of the toolstring element (30). The toolstring element (30) is tubular and has a closed leading or bottom end, whereas it is open at the opposite, top end. The leading locomotive device, (31) adapted to pull the toolstring element during pumping down, has a seal for co-operation with a seat at a no-go or nipple assembly at the bottom end of a tubing from which an extension tubing extend into the horizontal or high-deviation well. The leading locomotive device (31) sealingly surrounds the toolstring element (30) and allows sliding of the toolstring element there-through when engaging the seat. The toolstring element (30) has a safety bypass valve (80) near the at least one locomotive device (32A) at the top end of the toolstring element and check valve (70) between the bypass valve (80) and the at least one locomotive device (32A).

    摘要: A well safety system comprising a tubing retrievable safety valve adaptable for being connected in a well tubing string with means therein, responsive to pressure, for opening and closing the valve. The tubing retrievable safety valve is to be connected, in the tubing string, below a landing nipple for receiving a secondary safety valve. The safety valve and landing nipple are connected by a common conduit for conducting a suitable pressure fluid for control and balance of the safety valve and a secondary valve landed in the landing nipple. Means are provided on the landing nipple for selectively flushing pressure fluid into the tubing bore. The valve comprises: (1) an elongated valve body having a process fluid inlet and a process fluid outlet, (2) an elongated valve stem disposed within the valve body for axial displacement relative thereto to adjust a rate of process fluid flow between the fluid inlet and the fluid outlet as a function of a relative axial position of the valve stem with respect to the valve body and (3) a cam disposed within the valve body and coupling the valve body and the valve stem, the cam providing a plurality of axial displacement positions thereon to place the valve stem at a selected one of a plurality of relative axial positions with respect to the valve body, the valve body having a control fluid pressure port for allowing a control fluid pressure to be introduced into and released from the valve to reciprocate the valve stem axially with respect to the valve body between cocked and set positions, the cam moving from a first axial displacement position to a second axial displacement position as the valve stem is reciprocated, a difference between the first and second axial displacement positions thereby causing an adjustment of the rate of process fluid flow between the fluid inlet and the fluid outlet.

    摘要: A tool stopping device for use in well flow conductors for stopping well tools moving therethrough, these devices being located at desired checkpoints, their arrival thereat indicating the progress of the tools in the flow conductor, each device having lugs movable between an inner, tool stopping position and an outer position in which they do not obstruct the bore of the device, each device also having a mechanism remotely actuable from the surface for moving the lugs between their outer and inner positions, whereby tools may be stopped by the lugs when in their inner position, after which the lugs may be moved to their outer position to free the tools for movement beyond the device. In some forms of the devices, the lugs may stop tools in position where they are to be locked in place. In another form, the tools are stopped by a shoulder in the device and the lugs are then contracted to anchor the tool in engagement with that shoulder. In further forms, the device has a lug which may block the slot in an orienting sleeve incorporated therein for stopping a perforating gun, kickover tool, or the like, after being oriented, the lug being remotely retractable to a position wherein it does not block the slot, thus freeing the tool for unhindered movement therebeyond. Systems and methods relating to such devices are also disclosed.

    摘要: An isolation valve for a downhole well completion system having a one piece frangible, ceramic sealing element and an extrusion resistant resiliently faced valve seat and a method for the use thereof is presented. Said sealing element is biased to the closed position and rotatable within a sealing element chamber from an open position during run in to a closed position as a result of the withdrawal of a wash pipe and a protector tube from the valve bore. Said frangible sealing element cooperates with said extrusion resistant valve seat to provide a reliable pressure resistant seal. After recovery of completion fluids from the well bore and pressure testing of the production string, the frangible sealing element is shattered by impacting with a tooth-faced blind box hammer.
