    摘要: A fluid-pressure indicator includes a housing having a first region and a second region. A pressure-responsive member is disposed in the first region and is movable between an expanded state and a compressed state. An indicator disk is viewable through the pressure-responsive member when the pressure-responsive member is in the compressed state and is obscured from view through the pressure-responsive member when the pressure-responsive member is in the expanded state. A diaphragm is movable from a relaxed state to a deflected state in response to pressure within the second region exceeding a threshold pressure and prevents fluid communication between the first region and the second region. The diaphragm additionally causes the pressure-responsive member to move from the expanded state to the compressed state when the pressure exceeds the threshold pressure.

    摘要: A valve damping piston and a cam follower piston have telescopic sliding fits in opposite ends of a through-bore in the lifter housing. A pressure chamber is cooperatively defined within the housing between the two pistons, and is communicated to the engine oil supply. A lash adjusting piston has a telescopical sliding fit with the exterior axial end of the damping piston, and the two cooperatively define between themselves a lash adjusting chamber. The lash adjusting chamber is communicated to the pressure chamber by an axial segment of the telescopic sliding fit of the damping piston to the housing. The clearance provided by this axial segment creates a flow restriction that results in the pressure in the lash adjusting chamber being appreciably lower, 50% for example, than the pressure in the pressure chamber. The damping piston contains a circumferential groove that is directly communicated to the termination of the axial segment. A radial and then an axial hole in the damper piston communicate the groove to the lash adjusting chamber. 00

    摘要: A variable camshaft timing system for an internal combustion engine varies the relative angular position between the intake camshaft and the exhaust camshaft by controlling the path of the timing belt means. A first belt means is interconnected at one end of the engine between the crankshaft and the exhaust camshaft. At the other end of the engine the intake camshaft and the exhaust camshaft are connected by a second belt means for rotating the intake camshaft from the rotational drive supplied via exhaust camshaft. Idler arms are positioned for controlling the path and tension in the second belt means for varying the timing of the intake camshaft relative to the exhaust camshaft. A motor means operates to position the idler arms through a positioning cam means. The motor is controlled from an electronic control unit which receives signals indicating the engine operating characteristics and through a look-up table steps the positioning cam means to pivot the idler arms to rotate the intake camshaft relative to the exhaust camshaft thereby changing the intake valve timing.

    摘要: An active fuel pressure pulsation cancellation technique includes receiving, at a controller of an engine having a camshaft-driven fuel pump, an unfiltered fuel pressure signal indicative of a measured pressure of fuel in a fuel rail. The technique includes detecting, at the controller, fuel pressure pulsations in the fuel rail based on the unfiltered fuel pressure signal. The technique includes generating, at the controller, a cancellation signal based on an opposite polarity of the fuel pressure pulsations. The technique also includes controlling, by the controller, an actuator associated with the fuel rail using the cancellation signal to cause the actuator to generate liquid-borne cancellation pulsations that cancel the fuel pressure pulsations in the fuel rail.
