    摘要: A terminal fitting (10) has a rectangular tubular box (11) with an open rear end. A tab (12) extends forward from the box (11) and a crimping portion (14) is behind the box (11) for connection to a wire (30). The box (11) includes a base plate (15), two side plates (16) extending from opposite left and right sides of the base plate (15), and a supporting plate (17) extending from the side plates (16) substantially parallel to the base plate (15). The rear end of the supporting plate (17) defines a locking portion (18) to engage a locking lance (49). Only one restricting plate (22) extends from an extending end edge of a supporting plate (17) toward the base plate (15) substantially parallel to the side plates (16). A rear end (22R) of the restricting plate (22) is in the box (11) forward of the locking portion (18).

The retainer (44) includes a restriction (48) for restricting the inclination of the male terminal fitting (10) by being so displaced, at the partial locking position, that a rear end of the male terminal fitting (10) moves toward the retracted portion (50).

    摘要: A terminal fitting (T) has a rectangular tube (10) with a bottom plate (12). A resilient contact (25) extends back into the tube (10) from an end of the bottom plate (12). A base portion (33) is formed at the front end of the bottom plate (12) and is made narrower than the bottom plate (12) by cutting away the left and right edges. A bulge (34) bulges out from a lateral edge of the base portion (33) and narrows an area of an opening between the base portion (33) and the right side plate (13R). Thus, external matter is less likely to intrude into the rectangular tube (10) through the opening even if the resilient contact (25) is narrow. Additionally, the base portion (33) is reinforced by the bulge (34). Thus, the base portion (33) is less likely to be deformed by external matter.

Thus, there is no significant step between the upper surfaces of the ceiling plate (14) and the pressing portion (38) and the height of the rectangular tube (10) can be reduced.

    摘要: A female terminal fitting (20) has an approximately tubular connection portion (22) with an open front end for receiving a tab (14) of a male terminal fitting (10). Concavities (30) extend longitudinally in the connection portion (22) at positions opposed to side surfaces of the tab (14). The concavities (30) enable the outside width (W) of the connection portion (22) to be small while securing a large clearance (C) outward from the side surfaces of the tab (14). The concavities (30) do not significantly decrease the strength of the entire connection portion (22). Additionally, the large clearance (C) avoids the need for highly accurate manufacturing.
