    摘要: A cathode ray tube including an internal magnetic shield in the shape of a hollow rectangular frustum including two long sides opposite to each other and two short sides opposite to each other, having an opening at its top and bottom attached to a mask and a frame. Each long side has a long side extension at a horizontal center located at the top of the internal magnetic shield where an electron beam enters the internal magnetic shield. The long side extensions enable the magnetic shield to reduce the deviation of an electron beam within the magnetic shield caused by an external magnetic field such as that caused by terrestrial magnetism.

A tension mask made of a magnetostrictive material is used, the tension mask is stretched by a stretching force in a range maintaining the flatness of the tension mask, and the direction and strength of the stretching force are set such that vertical magnetic permeability of the tension mask increases, due to a magnetoelastic effect caused by the stretching force in the magnetostrictive material of the tension mask.

    摘要: An internal magnetic shield includes a pair of opposing long side walls (1), a pair of opposing short side walls (2), and an opening (3) enclosed by these side walls in the center. The short side walls (2) are provided with notches (4) having a substantially home-plate shape. This configuration can reduce mislanding of an electron beam on the entire screen and easily balance the amount of mislanding due to geomagnetism in the tube-axis direction and in the horizontal direction perpendicular to the tube axis. As a result, a cathode ray tube capable of displaying images without displacement and unevenness of colors can be provided.

    摘要: A plasma display panel (PDP) featuring the display performance of high definition display and a high brightness, and yet, a lower power consumption is disclosed. A front panel of this PDP includes display electrodes formed on a front glass substrate, a dielectric layer covering the display electrodes, and a protective layer formed on the dielectric layer. A rear panel of this PDP includes address electrodes formed along a direction intersecting with the display electrodes, and barrier ribs. The front panel and the rear panel confront each other to form a discharge space which is filled with discharge gas and is portioned by the barrier ribs. The protective layer is formed of a metal oxide made of MgO and CaO. X-ray diffraction analysis on the surface of the protective layer finds that the metal oxide has a peak between a diffraction angle where a peak of MgO occurs and a diffraction angle where a peak of CaO occurs along an identical orientation of the MgO peak.

    摘要: The object of the present invention is to provide a gas discharge panel, where the conversion efficiency of discharge energy into visible rays and the panel brightness are improved, with the color purity being improved as far as possible. To achieve this object, in a gas discharge panel, the pressure of discharge gas is set in a range of 800-4000 Torr, that is higher than a conventional gas pressure. Also, a rare gas mixture including helium, neon, xenon, and argon is used as discharge gas charged into discharge spaces, instead of conventional discharge gas. Here, it is preferable that the proportion of Xe is set to 5% by volume or less, that of Ar 0.5% by volume or less, and that of He under 55% by volume. With this rare gas mixture, the light-emission efficiency is improved, with the firing voltage being suppressed. Furthermore, display electrodes and address electrodes are arranged on the surface of either of a front cover plate and a back plate, with a dielectric layer existing between the display electrodes and the address electrodes. With this construction, addressing is performed with a relatively low voltage even if the gas pressure is high.
