    摘要: A control scheme for a wound rotor synchronous generator whereby feedback signals corresponding to the exciter field current and the generator output voltage potential combine together to control the generator output voltage in such a way that at lower generator speeds and lower load requirements, exciter field current saturation is eliminated by reducing generator output voltage. The generator control scheme includes a circuit for sensing exciter field current in logic cooperation with a circuit for sensing generator voltage. Both sensing circuits regulate the current applied to the exciter field which corresponds to the rectified current applied to the field windings of the power generator. During steady state operations the generator output voltage is regulated using the generator output voltage as a feedback signal. At lower speeds and reduced loads and as the exciter field current approaches the saturation point, the generator output voltage is regulated using the exciter field current as a feedback signal.

    摘要: A permanent magnet rotor of a generator is used to excite a permanent magnet stator to generate electric power for the generator and to control a disengagement mechanism whereby the generator can disengage from an accessory, such as a gear box drive shaft, when the generator is not working properly. The permanent magnet is affixed to an outer ball screw which normally rotates with an inner ball screw that is operatively engaged to the accessory. An increased load to the permanent magnet stator slows or stops rotation of the permanent magnet rotor and outer ball screw, causing the inner ball screw to move axially from the outer ball screw and away from an accessory and toward a re-settable lock.

    摘要: A high speed, high power generator has its main stator and main rotor configured to provide enhanced cooling capability. The generator includes a generator housing, a stator, a shaft, and a rotor. The stator is mounted within the generator housing. The shaft is rotationally mounted within the generator housing, and includes an inner surface that defines an internal fluid flow passage, an outer surface, and a plurality of interlamination cooling supply orifices extending between the shaft inner and outer surfaces. The rotor is mounted on the shaft and includes a plurality of poles formed from laminations, and one or more interlamination disks. Each interlamination disk is disposed between at least two of the laminations and includes a plurality of interlamination flow passages that receive a cooling medium from the shaft and direct the cooling medium, via centrifugal force, through the rotor and onto the stator.

    摘要: A drive mechanism which couples a generator shaft to a gear box or other source of mechanical power is disclosed. The drive mechanism is an assembly of a drive shaft, a rod, a bar shaped nut and a compression spring. The rod is inserted into a bore in the drive shaft with the compression spring about the rod. The bar is secured to a portion of the rod which extends from the drive shaft. The rod is adapted so that it may be depressed and rotated within the bore in the drive shaft such that the compression spring exerts a force on a head in the rod opposing the depression. A retaining mechanism is inserted the generator shaft for receiving the bar shaped nut such that the drive mechanism is retained within the generator shaft.

    摘要: Apparatus and method for dissipating heat in a generator. A rotor having support wedges between each of its poles is mounted on a bored shaft in which a bored spindle having helical grooves along its outer diameter is fixed. A cooling medium is circulated through the bored shaft upon rotation of the shaft. The shaft has at least one outlet and one inlet through which the cooling medium can radially exit and return, respectively. Each of the support wedges has an inlet and an outlet between which a bore extends. In a preferred embodiment, a manifold is disposed about the bored shaft and mated to each of the support wedges so as to circulate the cooling medium from the bored shaft to the support wedges and back to the bored shaft, thereby dissipating heat from the generator rotor. In alternate embodiments more than one manifold is used to circulate the cooling medium through the support wedges.
