    摘要: A throttle control cartridge has a circuit board carrying a Hall-effect sensor, the position of which is fixed in a housing carrying a cam. A shaft carrying a magnet is rotatably and translatably disposed with respect to the housing and carries a cam follower that engages the cam and translates the shaft with respect to the housing when the shaft is rotated with respect to the housing in at least one of two opposed angular directions. The cam and the cam follower have at least first and second pairs of cam surfaces in which a first cam surface is disposed at a different cam or helix angle then the second cam surface. A redundant stop is cooperatively formed between the cam follower and splines on the shaft to limit axial translation of the cam follower in one direction of rotation of the shaft relative to the housing.

    摘要: A sensor package and method of making the same is disclosed in which the sensor package includes a sensor component for electromagnetic sensing having a holder assembly with the sensor component disposed at one end and sensor terminals in electrical communication with the sensor component extending from an opposite end. A harness assembly having a harness head configured with harness terminals extending therefrom for electrical connection with corresponding sensor terminals. The holder assembly and harness head are configured with a means for snap-fit assembly that provides space to mechanically connect corresponding sensor terminals and harness terminals with each other forming a resultant subassembly for insertion into a sensor housing. The housing further includes a heat-staked interface with the harness head that secures the subassembly relative to the sensor housing. A bracket and an elastomeric seal may be disposed in corresponding grooves configured on the sensor housing to complete assembly of the sensor package.

Within the interior of the sensor housing is a sensing structure having a base and a coil. A shunt resistor and two terminals are insert molded into the base of the sensing structure, with the resistor disposed between the terminals. Two electrical leads, that are electrically connected to the coil, are wrapped around each end of the shunt resistor and the immediately adjacent terminal. The electrical lead not only electrically connects the terminals to the coil, but it also electrically connects the shunt resistor to the terminals.

    摘要: A vehicle variable reluctance sensor includes a hollow generally cylindrical sensor housing with an open proximal end. Within the interior of the sensor housing is a coil wound around a “T”-shaped spool. The coil is connected to two electrical terminals by two electrical leads. A channel is formed in the spool between the coil and the electrical leads and the electrical leads are disposed within the channel. The channel is flanked on each side by a lip that extends outwardly from the spool. If the electrical leads become slack under extreme temperatures, the configuration of the channel, in conjunction with the lips, prevents the electrical leads from coming out of the channel and unwinding the coil. As such, it is not necessary to tape the coil or otherwise immerse the coil in varnish to prevent the coil from unwinding.

    摘要: A target wheel sensor includes a sensing structure (112) disposed within a hollow sensor housing (102). The sensing structure (112) has a T-shaped spool (114) that includes a pole piece holder (116) that terminates in a magnet holder (118). The magnet (122) and the pole piece (120) are magnetically coupled so that the pole piece (120) is magnetized by the magnet. Also, the magnet (122) and the pole piece (120) are physically coupled so that they move in unison within the sensing structure (112). A metal target wheel (130) having one or more teeth (132) is provided and works in conjunction with the sensor (100). The target wheel (130) is placed in proximity to the sensor (100) and as the target wheel (130) rotates and a tooth (132) passes by the sensor (100) the force of magnetic attraction between the pole piece (120) and the tooth (132) will draw the pole piece (120) toward the target wheel (130) and into the extended position. As the target wheel (130) continues to rotate, the tooth (132) will move away from the pole piece (120) causing the magnetic force to lessen and allowing the pole piece (120) to return to the retracted position under the influence of a spring (128).

    摘要: Linear velocity sensor and method for reducing non-linearity in the output signal of the sensor are provided. The sensor comprises a ferromagnetic housing including an opening. The sensor further comprises a spool disposed in the housing. The spool includes a bore for receiving a slidable ferromagnetic rod. The ferromagnetic rod may be extendable through the opening in the housing. A magnet is mounted at the one end of the rod distal from the opening when the rod is substantially inserted in the bore. A coil is wound on the spool. The number of turns of the coil is arranged to taperingly increase as the coil progresses from an end of the spool proximate the opening in the housing to the opposite end of the spool. The tapering arrangement for the number of turns of the coil is selected to reduce non-linearity of an output signal of the coil indicative of linear velocity.
