    摘要: An image processing apparatus, for processing an image signal representing pixel values of pixels so as to display an image including the pixels by an image display apparatus, includes a detection section for detecting a low frequency portion of the image signal, which corresponds to a first series of pixels having a first pixel value and a second series of pixels having a second pixel value different from the first pixel value, the second series of pixels following the first series of pixels; and a signal expansion section for expanding a prescribed portion of the low frequency portion of the image signal, the prescribed portion including at least one of the first series of pixels and the second series of pixels, such that the first pixel value is gradually changed to the second pixel value.

    摘要: A display device controls a signal applied to the n dots such that a sum of luminance of n dots (n is an integer of 1 or more) is virtually equal to an original luminance of the defective dot on the assumption that the n dots, which are adjacent to an electrically uncontrollable dot, are not originally illuminated. The display device also controls a signal applied to dots adjacent to the defective dot so as to display a color which is closer to an original color obtained by input signals to the defective dot and the adjacent dots.

    摘要: An image processing apparatus includes a selection section for selecting and retrieving a significant part in terms of resolution from a bit steam of an image signal which is input to each pixel of an image display apparatus; and an extension and correction section for extending and correcting the significant parts of the image signals selected by the selection section in a low-frequency part which includes a plurality of consecutive image signals having a first signal value and a plurality of consecutive image signals having a second signal value which is different from the first signal value by a prescribed value, wherein the significant parts are each extended and corrected by being supplemented with a prescribed number of bits, such that the first signal value smoothly changes to the second signal value.

    摘要: An image display device of the present invention is provided with a liquid crystal display panel for displaying an image in accordance with an input of a chrominance signal, a sensor for sensing light characteristics of external light, and a chrominance signal converter for converting a chrominance signal to be inputted into an image display section in accordance with an output of the sensor. The chrominance signal converter includes a target display color setting section for setting a color to display as an image agreeable with chromatic adaptation characteristics of human, according to the output of the sensor, and a color reproduction section for reproducing a target color set by the target display color setting section, by using three primary color with chromaticities suitable for the output of the sensor. The target display color setting section converts the chrominance signal into a chrominance signal of the target display color reproduced by the color reproduction section. Provided is an image with color tone, in which no change is sensed by a user, even if external light condition, that is the light characteristics of the external light.

    摘要: A video image transmitting device, a video image receiving device, a video image recording device, a video image reproducing device, and a video image displaying device all having video signal processings such as a frame rate conversion (FRC) enable prevention of degradation of the video image reproduced by a video signal generated by superimposing first and second video signals on each other. The video image transmitting device (1) includes an editing device (2) for superimposing first and second video signals on each other according to video combining information, a video image encoding processing portion (3) and a video image composite information encoding processing portion (4) for encoding the output video signal from the editing device (2) and video combining information respectively, a multiplexing processing portion (5) for multiplexing the encoded data, and a transmitting portion (6) for transmitting the multiplexed data. The video image receiving device (11) includes a receiving portion (12) for receiving the multiplexed data, a multiplexed data separating processing portion (13) for separating the multiplexed data into the video data and the video image decoding processing portion (14) and a video image composite information decoding processing portion (15) for decoding the video data and the video combining information respectively, and a video image signal processing portion (16) for subjecting the decoded video signal to a predetermined video signal processing. The video image signal processing portion (16) adequately controls the video signal processing of the portion of the second video signal superimposed on the first video signal by using the video combining information, thereby prevents image degradation of and around the portion of the second video signal caused by the video signal processing, and generates a video with higher quality.

    摘要: The liquid crystal display device inputs a signal, corrected by a correction circuit provided with a sigmoid inverse function generator, to a source driver. A sigmoid function which is an S-shaped function is used to approximate an input/output characteristic (applied voltage-transmittance curve) of a liquid crystal panel. The sigmoid inverse function generator converts an input signal by using an inverse function of the sigmoid function obtained by performing the approximation. A γ conversion circuit provided on the correction circuit and the sigmoid inverse function generator realize the desired γ characteristic regardless of a characteristic of the liquid crystal panel. Further, since the inverse function of the sigmoid function which is an S-shaped function is used, it is possible to provide a display device which corrects the input/output characteristic of the display panel by performing the approximation in accordance with not plural functions but a single function (without dividing the characteristic into sections).
