    Abstract: A method and a processing device are provided for predicting standpipe pressure. A Bayesian linear regressor is initialized. Priors for the Bayesian linear regressor are initialized based on previous drilling operations that used a same bottom hole assembly. Measurement data associated with drilling a well is received in real time. An online Bayesian linear regressor update is generated using QR decomposition for a model. Responsive to determining that at least some coefficients violate physical rules, the at least some of the coefficients are set to a respective default value that is either zero or a positive value. Coefficients and uncertainty are updated based on at least one of the online Bayesian linear regressor update and the setting of at least some of the coefficients. The model is then visualized. Visualization helps a user identify whether the learned model makes sense.

    Abstract: A method for determining a remaining life span of an elastomer in a motor. The method includes running a downhole tool into a wellbore. The downhole tool includes a mud motor having a rotor and a stator. At least one of the rotor or the stator includes, or is at least partially made from, an elastomer. A number of cycles before the elastomer fails may be predicted. A number of cycles during a time period may be determined. A change in a remaining life span of the elastomer over the time period may be determined, based upon the number of cycles before the elastomer fails and the number of cycles during the time period.

    Abstract: A method for steering a downhole tool to drill a wellbore in a subterranean formation includes receiving an initial wellbore plan for the downhole tool to drill through the subterranean formation. The method also includes receiving drilling data while the downhole tool is drilling through the subterranean formation using the initial wellbore plan. The method also includes comparing the initial wellbore plan to the drilling data. The method also includes determining a downlink command to transmit to the downhole tool based upon or in response to the comparison. The method also includes determining an importance of the downlink command based upon the comparison. The method also includes determining a time to transmit the downlink command to the downhole tool. The time is determined based upon the importance of the downlink command. The method further includes receiving an actual steering response result of the steering command in which the actual steering response result identifies an actual drilling trajectory. The method further includes storing a dataset comparing the actual steering response result in relation to the intended steering response, determining an uncertainty level of the tool face orientation based on the stored dataset, and outputting a visual representation of steering response with the uncertainty level.
