The trap electrode is formed in a black matrix area among the pixel electrodes and a different voltage (e.g. a gate-off voltage) from the pixel voltage applied to the pixel electrodes is applied to the trap electrode. Thus, ion impurities in the display panel are trapped into the black matrix area, thereby removing an image sticking caused by the ion impurities.
