    摘要: A liquid crystal device capable of input operations comprising a liquid crystal panel 2 and an input unit 4 stacked thereon. The input unit 4 has a front-side substrate 8a lying at a front side and a back-side substrate 8b opposing the front-side substrate 8a. The liquid crystal panel 2 has a first substrate 22a lying at the front side and a second substrate 22b lying at the back side. Since the front-side substrate 8a and the back-side substrate 8b of the input unit 4 are flexible, the input unit 4 is thin and lightweight. Since the second substrate 22b of the liquid crystal panel 2 is flexible, the formation of a distortion pattern in the liquid crystal device is prevented when pressing operation of the input unit 4 is performed.

By increasing the mechanical strength of the electrode terminal (7) of the liquid crystal display, terminal electrode cracks caused by mechanical stress that increase during the manufacturing process and incorporation into electronic calculators can be decreased and further, a liquid crystal display with a decreased number of disconnections and high reliability can be realized.

    摘要: A method is described for packaging a liquid crystal panel device that includes a pair of plastic substrates and a liquid crystal material encapsulated therebetween. The method includes the steps of enveloping the liquid crystal panel device by a container substantially impermeable to gases and containing an undesirable gas, removing the undesirable gas from the container and hermetically sealing the liquid crystal panel device in the container after removing the undesirable gas therefrom. A liquid crystal panel package is also described which includes at least one liquid crystal panel device, a packaging box and a container. The packaging box is sized to receive the liquid crystal panel device and is fabricated from a gas permeable material. The container is fabricated from a gas impermeable material and contains an undesirable gas. The container is sized to contain the packaging box with the liquid crystal panel device received therein. After the undesirable gas is removed from the container, the container contains the packaging box and the liquid crystal panel device substantially free of the undesirable gas in a hermetically sealed state.

    摘要: A liquid crystal display element utilizing flexible gas barrier films decreases poor display performance caused by bubble formation. This decrease is achieved by reducing the permeation of gas and water vapor from the gas barrier films into substrates by devising the structure of the element and the configuration in which the element is mounted. Specifically, edges of the substrates forming the liquid crystal display elements are sealed. Additionally, the gas and water vapor saturation solubilities of the liquid crystal material is controlled to improve resistance to bubble formation. The liquid crystal display elements can also be subjected to and/or stored in a reduced pressure. Electronic equipment incorporating liquid crystal display elements can include a guard plate having a minimum thickness and/or spacing from the display elements.
