Disclosed is a thermoplastic composition comprising a polycarbonate terpolymer comprising structures derived from structures (I), (II) and (III), wherein (I) is a dihydroxy compound having the structure (A): wherein n is 0 to 4 and Rf is independently a halogen atom, a C1-10 hydrocarbon group, or a C1-10 halogen substituted hydrocarbon group; (II) comprises a second dihydroxy compound derived from Formula (A) and different from (I) and wherein n and Rf are as previously defined; and (III) a third dihydroxy compound not derived from Formula (A), wherein the sum of the mol percent of all of structures (I) and (II) is greater than 45% relative to the sum of the molar amounts of all of structures (I), (II) and (III) in the polycarbonate terpolymer and wherein said polycarbonate terpolymer is amorphous; an impact modifier; an ungrafted rigid copolymer; and a flame retardant. The thermoplastic composition has improved chemical resistance and flame retardance.

Blends of polycarbonate (PC) with an impact modifier, such as a butadiene-styrene based polymer like acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS) polymers or methacrylate-butadiene-styrene (MBS) polymers, having improved flame retardance are disclosed. From about 0.5% to about 3% by weight of a filler selected from the group consisting of a clay, talc, and aluminum oxide particles are added to the blend. The resulting flame retardant polymer composition has improved flame retardance with acceptable maintenance of mechanical and/or processing properties.

Disclosed are compositions comprising: (i) a rubber modified thermoplastic resin comprising a discontinuous elastomeric phase dispersed in a rigid thermoplastic phase, wherein at least a portion of the rigid thermoplastic phase is grafted to the elastomeric phase; (ii) at least two additives selected from the group consisting of glass beads; fluoropolymers; ethylene bis-stearamide; a mixture of at least one metal salt of a fatty acid and at least one amide; a homopolymer comprising structural units derived from at least one (C1-C12)alkyl(meth)acrylate monomer; and mixtures thereof; and optionally (iii) at least one additive selected from the group consisting of a silicone oil and a linear low density polyethylene; wherein said composition has a critical shear rate value of greater than about 50 reciprocal seconds as measured at 190° C. in a capillary rheometer with 10 mm length and 1 mm diameter. In other embodiments the present invention comprises a method to reduce or eliminate plate-out formation in compositions comprising rubber modified thermoplastic resins. In still other embodiments the present invention comprises articles made from said compositions.
