Abstract: A wireless telecommunications system including a terminal device; first infrastructure equipment operable to communicate with the terminal device using a first radio access technology (RAT) and second infrastructure equipment operable to communicate with the terminal device using a second RAT. During a handover procedure for handover from the first infrastructure equipment as a source master infrastructure equipment to a third infrastructure equipment as a target master infrastructure equipment, the second infrastructure equipment is operable to communicate with the third infrastructure equipment using an interface associated with the second RAT so as to allow information necessary for completing the handover to be exchanged between the first infrastructure equipment and the third infrastructure equipment via the second infrastructure equipment.

Abstract: A communications device acting as a rely device is configured to transmit a buffer status report message indicating that the buffer is storing data received from the infrastructure equipment for transmission to a remote communications device, when predetermined conditions are satisfied or a trigger event occurs so that the transmission of the data to the remote communications device can make more efficient use of communications resources to transmit the data or the remote communications device receives the data when the remote communications device is in a state in which it should receive the data, for example when not in a reduced power state.

Abstract: A method determining indication of an occupancy level in a mobile communications system including a base station to communicate with a mobile communications device via a wireless interface provided by a first frequency channel allocated to mobile networks communications for the mobile communications system and by a shared channel which can be shared by the mobile communications system and by other wireless communications systems. The method includes: a mobile communications device: measuring, for each of plural first time periods within a second time period, a channel utilization on the shared channel; determining channel occupancy states for the shared channel for each of the first time periods based on the measured channel utilization; and determining an indication of an occupancy level for the shared channel for the second time period, the indication of an occupancy level determined based on the occupancy states for the shared channel for each first time period.

Abstract: A terminal device for use in a wireless telecommunications network, the terminal device comprising receiver circuitry and control circuitry, wherein the control circuitry is configured to: control the receiver circuitry to receive a first signal indicating that a warning notification message is to be transmitted by infrastructure equipment of the network using a multicast or broadcast transmission; in response to the reception of the first signal, control the receiver circuitry to receive a second signal transmitted by infrastructure equipment of the network using predetermined communication resources, the second signal comprising information for the terminal device to use to determine communication resources for the multicast or broadcast transmission of the warning notification message; determine the communication resources for the multicast or broadcast transmission of the warning notification message using the information comprised in the second signal; control the receiver circuitry to receive the warning notification message using the determined communication resources.

Abstract: A communications device includes a transmitter configured to transmit signals to one or more other communications devices via a wireless access interface, the one or more communications devices configured to perform device-to-device communications. A receiver is configured to receive signals from the one of the other communications devices via the wireless access interface, and a controller controls the transmitter and receiver to transmit or to receive the signals via the wireless access interface to transmit or to receive data represented by the signals. The wireless access interface provides a scheduling region including plural predetermined sections of communications resources, and plural sections of shared communications resources. Transmission of a scheduling assignment message in a section of the scheduling region informs other devices of a group that a communications device will transmit signals representing data in a corresponding section of the shared communications channel.

Abstract: A method of transmitting system information in a mobile communications network, the network comprising a base station operable to provide a cell to communicate wirelessly with a plurality of mobile terminals and a mobile terminal of the plurality of mobile terminals, the mobile terminal being operable to communicate with the base station. The method comprises periodically transmitting essential system information “ESI” to the plurality of mobile terminals, the ESI comprising system information for using the cell provided by the base station; transmitting additional system information “ASI” to the mobile terminal, the ASI comprising system information for using one or more services provided by the cell. In the event that it is determined that the base station is overloaded, the method further comprises transmitting a service notification that the cell is currently unable to provide the one or more services.

Abstract: A method of operating network infrastructure equipment in a wireless telecommunications network comprising the network infrastructure equipment and a terminal device, wherein the terminal device is operable to transmit uplink reference signalling to support measurements of radio channel conditions between the terminal device and the network infrastructure equipment, wherein the method comprises: receiving, from the terminal device, uplink reference signalling in accordance with a first uplink reference signalling configuration; determining the terminal device should be configured to transmit uplink reference signalling in accordance with a second uplink reference signalling configuration; and transmitting a paging message for the terminal device, wherein the paging message comprises an indication of an identifier for the terminal device and an indication of the second uplink reference signalling configuration.
