Abstract: When an access node is providing a UE with carrier-aggregation service on a PCell in combination with one or more SCells and the UE engages in a voice call including uplink voice communication on the PCell, the access node will determine that there is a threshold high level of IMD on the uplink resulting from concurrent downlink transmissions, and the access node will responsively swap the UE's PCell with one of the UE's one or more SCells. In a representative implementation, the decision to swap these carriers in the UE's connection could be based on a further determination that the level of IMD on the uplink of the SCell is not threshold high.

Abstract: A method and system for controlling air-interface resources on a radio-frequency (RF) carrier on which an access node provides wireless communication service. While the access node is set to apply at least two resource-reservations (e.g., PRB-reservations) that are mutually exclusive on the carrier, a computing system detects that resource-availability on the carrier is threshold low. And in response to the detecting, the computing system causes the access node to combine together the at least two resource-reservations on the carrier The combining together of the at least two resource-reservations on the carrier retains the at least two resource-reservations on the carrier but results in a reduction in aggregate total quantity of air-interface resources consumed by the at least two resource-reservations on the carrier.

Abstract: When a base station that does not support downlink beamforming is serving a UE and a guaranteed-bit-rate (GBR) bearer is established for the UE, the base station will detect the establishment of the GBR bearer for the UE and will responsively trigger handover of the UE to another base station selected based on the other base station supporting downlink beamforming. With this process, handing the UE over to a base station that supports downlink beamforming may thereby help to ensure successful transmission to the UE at the GBR associated with the bearer.

Abstract: A base station that provides coverage on at least one TDD carrier and at least one FDD carrier detects that the base station is serving a UE on just one or more of the TDD carrier(s) and that the UE is TDD-FDD CA capable. In response, the base station reconfigures the UE to change the UE's carrier prioritization from (i) prioritizing TDD over FDD to (ii) prioritizing FDD over TDD. For instance, if TDD carriers are defined in one or more frequency bands, and FDD carriers are defined in one or more other frequency bands, this could involve changing the UE's band prioritization to cause the UE to prefer connecting on TDD.
