摘要:
According to the present invention, a receiving node of a telecommunications network (20) (e.g. a radio base station (20) in uplink, or a mobile terminal (24) in downlink) transmits a single acknowledgement message to a transmitting node (e.g. a mobile terminal (24) in uplink, or a radio base station (22) in downlink) in respect of signals received over a plurality of frequency-aggregated carriers (component carriers) (10) between the transmitting and receiving nodes. If all signals are decoded correctly in the receiving node, a positive acknowledgement message (ACK) is sent to the transmitting node; if not all signals are decoded correctly, a negative acknowledgement message (NACK) is sent, or no acknowledgement message is sent. In this way, a single acknowledgement message can be sent for signals received over multiple carriers. The acknowledgement message can have the same format as legacy standards (for example, as specified in Release 8 of the 3GPP specifications), providing compatibility with existing equipment. The number of messages is also reduced compared with the straightforward approach of transmitting individual acknowledgement messages per component carrier.

The present invention relates to a method and system of transmissions and retransmissions of packet data in a communications system, where the communications system uses switched channels, switching between rates or channels of different characteristics, and connection control and management in such a system. Particularly, the invention relates to radio resource management in a Universal Mobile Telecommunications System, UMTS, or WCDMA system allowing for use of compatible protocols for non-switched and switched channels.

A node (100; 300) of a mobile network is responsible for scheduling transmissions of data blocks between the mobile network and a terminal device (200, 200′). The node (100; 300) may for example be a base station (100) or a control node (300) of the mobile network. The node (100; 300) determines a processing time required by the terminal device (200; 200′) for processing signals for transmission of one of the data blocks. The processing time is determined from a plurality of supported processing times. On the basis of the determined processing time, the node (100; 300) schedules the transmission of the data block. The terminal device (200, 200′) may provide control data for determining the processing time to the node (100; 300).

A method is described for data transmission by user equipments adapted to transmit data using resource blocks allocated by a radio network. The radio network is adapted to allocate resource blocks to a dedicated one of the user equipments or to a plurality of the user equipments. The method comprises the step of allocating at least one of the resource blocks that is not allocated to any dedicated user equipment to a first plurality of the user equipments. The allocation is signaled to the user equipments. A first user equipment of said first plurality obtains data for transmission. At least a first part of the data is transmitted by the first user equipment using said at least one resource block. Devices embodying the invention and methods of operating the devices are also described. Contention based data transmission in uplink is enabled without previous scheduling request and scheduling grant.

It is proposed to modify data unit handling on the side of a sender (e.g. a sending end-point or a proxy) by introducing congestion notification prevention information into data units, such that a queue buffer that implements a procedure for performing congestion notification with respect to one or more queued data units (e.g. dropping and/or marking data units with explicit congestion information) is capable of preventing the performance of a congestion notification at least with respect to the data units containing the congestion notification prevention information.

A method is provides in a receiving node for handling status information of data units transmitted from a sending node to the receiving node over a radio link. The receiving node establishes (401) that a number of data units that has been transmitted by the sending node are missing. The receiving node sends (402) a reduced status message to the sending node over the radio link, which message is reduced such that it comprises the negative acknowledgement for a first part of missing data units and omits negative acknowledgements for the rest of the missing data units. The omitted negative acknowledgement for the rest of the missing data units will not erroneously be interpreted as correctly received data units by the sending node.

New methods and devices for implementing an ARQ mechanism over a multi-hop connection (sender-relay-receiver) are proposed. A communication protocol is described in accordance with which data units are arranged in a sequence and each sent data unit is identifiable by a sequence position identifier. The sender implements a sending peer, the relay a relay peer and the receiver a receiving peer. Feedback messages are exchanged, which using said sequence position identifiers, carry information on a receipt of sent data units. The communication protocol provides for at least a first type and a second type of receipt information, the first type (RACK) of receipt information being indicative of a correct receipt of a data unit at a relay peer of said communication protocol, and the second type (ACK) of receipt information being indicative of a correct receipt of a data unit at a final destination peer of said communication protocol.

A technique of configuring link layer entities for a handover is described. In a method embodiment, the technique includes receiving from a recipient of protocol data units a supplemental status report for an existing ARQ connection in context with an imminent handover, determining service data units corresponding to buffered protocol data units taking into account information included in the supplemental report, and transferring the determined service data units to a link layer entity which is to establish a new ARQ connection to the recipient. The forced status synchronization that is based on the supplemental report prevents the transfer of service data units that have already been successfully received at the recipient.

A system and method for transporting data units for a communication network. In a communication between two peers a proxy and a network entity for controlling a partial communication are provided. One or both of the proxy and the network entity is arranged to modify one or more of the data units, in order to provide communication control related information that is different from communication control related information exchanged between the two peers The respective other or both of the proxy and the network entity is arranged to perform data unit transmission control based on the different communication control related information.
