An electro-luminescent conversion light emitting device for use in an information communication field. The light emitting device includes a semi-transparent reflective film substrate. On the semi-transparent reflective film is formed a transparent conductive film. On the transparent conductive film is formed a light emitting layer of organic thin film on the transparent conductive film. On the light emitting layer is formed an electrode. The semi-transparent reflective film 2 transmits parts of the light emitted by the light emitting layer to the glass substrate and reflects parts of the light to the light emitting layer. The semi-transparent reflective film acts as a light resonator with the Ag-Mg metal electrode on back of the light emitting layer.

A resonance type variable wavelength luminescent device which can control a spectrum of emission light of luminescent elements in response to an input signal such as voltage, heat, pressure, sound wave, magnetic field, electric field, gravity, electromagnetic wave or the like. Sequentially formed as laminated on a glass substrate are a semi-transparent reflective film, first electrically conductive transparent electrode films, a variable optical length layer, second electrically conductive transparent electrode films, a hole injection layer, an active layer made of aluminum chelate or the like and metallic electrodes, so that the first and second electrically conductive transparent electrode films are mutually arranged in a matrix form. A voltage is applied between the second electrically conductive transparent electrode films and the metallic electrodes to cause light emission of the active layer, whereas a voltage is applied between the first and second electrically conductive transparent electrode films to control the optical length of the variable optical length layer and to control a spectrum of emission light of the device. The variable wavelength luminescent device can be applied to planar color displays, optical switches and various sorts of sensors.

A porous silica precursor composition is herein provided and the precursor composition comprises an organic silane represented by the following chemical formula 1: R1m(R2—O)4−mSi (in the formula, R1 and R2 may be the same or different and each represent an alkyl group, and m is an integer ranging from 0 to 3); water; an alcohol; and a quaternary ammonium compound represented by the following chemical formula 2: R3N(R4)3X (in the formula, R3 and R4 may be the same or different and each represent an alkyl group and X represents a halogen atom). The composition is prepared by a method comprising the step of blending the foregoing components. The porous silica precursor composition is coated on a substrate and then fired to thus form a porous silica film. Also disclosed herein include a semiconductor element, an apparatus for displaying an image and a liquid crystal display, each having the foregoing porous silica film.
