A plurality of viscoelastic layers in the form of rubber films are sandwiched between two constraint plates in the form of iron plates via polyamide adhesive films to form an alternatingly laminated structure. Materials of the respective elements are selected so that their degrees of elasticity satisfy the relationship: constraint plate>adhesive layer>viscoelastic layer. The thickness of each rubber film is limited below a predetermined value to maintain its thermal and pressure resistance, and the rubber films are laminated up to a total thickness required for obtain a desired vibration damping property. The vibration damper, thus obtained, is excellent in vibration property, thermal and pressure resistance, and resistance against oils and solvents, and effective even under a severe environment.

A vibration damper includes two materials, each being formed of a metal sheet having a rubber- or synthetic resin-base viscoelastic polymeric layer or layers formed on one or both sides, which are arranged in opposition to each other through said viscoelastic layers and bonded together with the use of a hot-melt-adhesive synthetic resin layer having a high melting point. Alternatively, one of said materials is arranged in opposition to another metal sheet through said vicoelastic layer or layers and bonded thereto with the use of said hot-melt-adhesive synthetic resin layer. A soundproofing structure using such a vibration damper is also provided.

A first delay circuit receives a sampling clock obtained by multiplying detected frequency of reference clock patterns and outputs delay clocks from first delay stages, respectively. Recording frequency of the sampling clock is not obtained using the reference clock patterns but obtained using received addresses. A disk driving apparatus obtains the number of the first delay stages to be used which correspond to one cycle of the obtained recording frequency and necessary for phase adjustment of the sampling clock, and disables not-used first delay stages. Any of the delay clocks is selected and at least one of regenerating operation to read data from a disk media and recording operation to write data thereto is executed in synchronization with the selected delay clock. Consequently, the number of delay stages to be disabled can be obtained with simple control, reducing power consumption of circuits for adjusting phases of the sampling clocks.

A wet type sliding apparatus in which a multilayer sliding member is used in the presence of a lubricating oil, characterized in that the multilayer sliding member is composed of (1) a backing metal layer, (2) a porous, sintered layer provided thereon and (3) a surface layer consisting essentially of polyetheretherketone formed by impregnating and coating the porous, sintered layer with a sliding resin consisting essentially of polyetheretherketone. The above sliding member has a small friction coefficient and excellent wear resistance. In particular, the sliding noise can be more effectively inhibited by adjusting the face roughness of the surface layer of the sliding member to 2 .mu.m or less.
