The flange regions are shaped by upsetting a corner substantially perpendicularly to a wall of the deep drawn region of the blank and the flange regions are subsequently trimmed in a shearing die, such that half shells without margins are produced.

According to said method, a convex or concave rounding produced on the edges of a longitudinal section results in material excess or material shortage in the transition regions, thereby preventing the material thinning or thickening in said transition regions during forming.
