    摘要： A developer unit adapted to develop a latent image with toner particles. The unit includes a housing defining a chamber for storing a supply of toner particles in the chamber. The unit also includes a donor roll including an electrically non-conductive circumferential surface having a conductivity less than 10.sup.-8 (ohm-cm).sup.-1 and having a central region and opposed marginal regions disposed on either side of the central region with the diameter of the central region being less than the diameter of the opposed marginal regions. The donor roll is spaced from the latent image to form a development zone. The unit further includes an electrode member which is positioned in the development zone adjacent opposed marginal regions and spaced from the central regions of the donor roll. The electrode member is electrically biased to detach toner particles from the donor roll to form a toner powder cloud in the development zone with toner particles from the toner cloud developing the latent image.

    摘要： An electroded donor roll for mounting partially within a mixing chamber of a development unit for forming a development zone with an image bearing member and moving charged toner particles from the mixing chamber to the development zone. The donor roll includes a conductive shaft core and a dielectric material layer that is injection molded over the shaft core. The donor roll also includes axially extending electrodes formed in the surface of the dielectric layer, and robust commutator contact pads that are formed from a conductive commutator washer device which has been overmolded into the dielectric layer. The commutator pads each are in line with, and contact an axially extending electrode.

    摘要： An interface antenna is positioned between a tag antenna associated with a tag and a reader antenna associated with a reader. The interface antenna receives an electromagnetic carrier signal transmitted by the reader antenna and causes an increase in intensity of the electromagnetic carrier signal at the location of the tag antenna, thereby increasing the distance over which the tag can communicate with the reader. Where the tag is attached to a packaged object, the interface antenna may be included in the package to allow wireless data communication between the tag and a reader external to the package. For example, the interface antenna may be attached to a label on the package. At least a portion of the interface antenna may be formed from a conductive ink applied to the label and/or the container. The object may be a module, also known as a customer replaceable unit (CRU), and the tag may be configured as a customer replaceable unit monitor (CRUM).

    摘要： An electronic diagnostic device for testing electronic monitoring tags for devices such as replaceable modules for a printing apparatus includes a tag reader with a reader wireless communication element. The tag reader is adapted to read tag diagnostic information from an electronic monitoring tag. The electronic diagnostic device further includes a data processor in communication with the tag reader. The data processor is adapted to determine from the tag diagnostic data whether the electronic monitoring tag is operating within predetermined parameters, to identify one of a predetermined set of error categories if the electronic monitoring tag is operating outside the predetermined parameters, and to generate error category information. The electronic diagnostic device further includes a results communication element adapted to communicate the error category information generated by the data processor. The diagnostic device may also communicate correction information to the electronic monitoring tag.
