    摘要: A recording head including an electrically insulating layer, a plurality of recording electrodes and at least one return circuit electrode provided on the opposite sides of the insulating layer, the insulating layer and electrodes being adapted to be held, at a distal end of the head, in contact with the resistive layer. The electrically insulating layer has a surface waviness represented by maximum filtered waviness, of not larger than 0.40 .mu.m, where a high band cut-off value is 0.8 mm and a reference length is 2.5 mm, as measured in main scanning direction perpendicular to a stacking direction of the electrically insulating layer, the recording and return circuit electrodes. The insulating layer also has a surface roughness represented by center-line mean roughness, within a range of 0.02 .mu.m to 0.4 .mu.m, where a cut-off value is 0.8 mm and a measuring length is 2.5 mm, as measured in the main scanning direction.

    摘要: A recording head operable to apply an electric current to an electrically resistive layer provided on a recording medium or a planar intermediate member interposed between the medium and the recording head. The head includes an electrically insulating substrate, and at least one recording electrode formed on one of opposite major surfaces of the substrate. The substrate is formed of an electrically insulating material whose wear resistance is lower than that of the recording electrode or electrodes. The substrate has a distal end portion extending from a proximal portion by a predetermined distance from the proximal portion for contact with the electrically resistive layer. The distal end portion has a thickness smaller than that of the proximal portion, as measured in a direction perpendicular to a direction of extension of the distal end portion. At least one return circuit electrode formed from a metal or metal alloy sheet is provided on the other major surface of the substrate remote from the recording electrode(s).

    摘要: A method of fabricating a piezoelectric/electrostrictive device including a driving portion, a movable portion, and a fixing portion for holding the driving portion and the movable portion. The driving portion includes a pair of thin plate portions facing each other, and a film-like piezoelectric/electrostrictive element formed on at least a part of the outer surface of at least one of the thin plate portions. A ceramic green laminate including at least one ceramic green sheet constituting one of the thin plates and at least one ceramic green sheet having at least one hole formed thereon is formed. The ceramic green laminate is sintered to produce a ceramic laminate. A piezoelectric/electrostrictive element is formed by a film formation method on the outer surface of the thin plate portion of the ceramic laminate. The ceramic laminate is then cut with the piezoelectric/electrostrictive element formed thereon.

An integrated layered body is obtained by laminating at least one green sheet that is to be a thin plate, at least one green sheet having at least one rectangular-shaped hole portion, and at least one green sheet that is to be another thin plate. A piezoelectric/electrostrictive element is formed on a surface of the green sheets that form the thin plates by one of a thick film method or a thin film method. The layered body is cut in the laminating direction of the green sheets such that the rectangular-shaped hole portion is open on the side of the layered body after sintering the layered body.

    摘要: A thermal recording head having an electrically resistive heat-generating portion formed on a thin-walled end portion of a ceramic substrate and electrically connected to recording and return-circuit electrodes. A reinforcing or heat radiating member is disposed on at least one of opposite sides of the substrate such that a portion of the reinforcing or heat radiating member is located at the thin-walled end portion of the substrate.
