摘要： The present invention provides a display device which is used in a miniaturized portable information device, wherein the display device requires a small mounting area for a driving circuit thus realizing free mounting of the driving circuit and also can perform driving thereof with a low-voltage power source such as a battery. In a display device which includes a display panel and a driving circuit on the same substrate, a booster circuit is formed on one side of a display panel together with the driving circuit and is formed by steps substantially equal to steps for pixel transistors. The booster circuit includes a circuit which compensates for the lowering of voltage of a switching element used in the booster circuit attributed to a threshold value of a switching element.

摘要： In the display device which is used in a miniaturized portable equipment, when a drive circuit is also connected on the same substrate as pixels, an input signal of low voltage has a level thereof shifted even when the threshold value is large or fluctuated. The display device includes pixel electrodes, switching elements which supply video signals to the pixel electrodes, and a drive circuit which supplies the video signals to the switching elements on the same substrate, wherein the drive circuit includes a level shift circuit, the level shift circuit includes a transistor. In a state that the transistor assumes an ON state, when an input signal is inputted to a source terminal and the input signal is at a low voltage level, a drain terminal assumes a low voltage level. Further, even when the input signal is at a high voltage level equal to or lower than a threshold value, the drain terminal outputs a voltage equal to or more than the threshold value as a high level voltage.

In a display device which forms photosensors on a substrate thereof, the photosensor is formed by sequentially stacking a gate electrode, a gate insulation film and a semiconductor layer in such an order or in an opposite order from a substrate side, and electrodes are connected to both sides of the semiconductor layer respectively, the semiconductor layer is formed of a stacked body consisting of a crystalline semiconductor layer and an amorphous semiconductor layer, and the crystalline semiconductor layer is arranged on the gate insulation film side.

摘要： In the display device which is used in a miniaturized portable equipment, when a drive circuit is also connected on the same substrate as pixels, an input signal of low voltage has a level thereof shifted even when the threshold value is large or fluctuated. The display device includes pixel electrodes, switching elements which supply video signals to the pixel electrodes, and a drive circuit which supplies the video signals to the switching elements on the same substrate, wherein the drive circuit includes a level shift circuit, the level shift circuit includes a transistor. In a state that the transistor assumes an ON state, when an input signal is inputted to a source terminal and the input signal is at a low voltage level, a drain terminal assumes a low voltage level. Further, even when the input signal is at a high voltage level equal to or lower than a threshold value, the drain terminal outputs a voltage equal to or more than the threshold value as a high level voltage.

摘要： A display device which stores display data for every display pixel can reduce the number of transistors which constitute 1 display pixel. In a display device which includes a display panel having a plurality of display pixels, video lines which apply video data to the display pixels and scanning lines which apply a scanning voltage to the display pixels, the display pixel includes: a capacitive element which holds a voltage corresponding to a value of the video data; a pixel electrode; a first transistor of a first conductive type which is connected between a first power source line and the pixel electrode and, at the same time, has a control electrode to which the voltage held in the capacitive element is applied; and a second transistor of a second conductive type different from the first conductive type which is connected between a second power source line and the pixel electrode and, at the same time, has a control electrode to which the voltage held in the capacitive element is applied. Here, a first voltage is supplied to the first power source line, and a second voltage is supplied to the second power source line. The second voltage is a voltage which is obtained by inverting the first voltage.

摘要： Eliminating differences in cell gap of a liquid crystal panel is effected to prevent display irregularities while avoiding contamination of the liquid crystal material due to unwanted contact of a seal material with the liquid crystal material. To this end, the liquid crystal panel includes a first substrate DSUB having multiple pixel electrodes AL-P in the form of a matrix, a second substrate USUB opposing the first substrate with a specified gap therebetween and having one or more transparent electrodes ITO-C, a liquid crystal layer LC made of a liquid crystal material sealed in the gap between the opposing substrates, and an alignment film on at least one of inner surfaces of the first and second substrates in contact with the liquid crystal layer for controlling alignment of the liquid crystal material. A plurality of pole-like spacers SPC-P are provided in a display area of the first substrate DSUB for retaining the gap between the first and second substrates DSUB, USUB at a predefined value while providing a band or strip-like spacer SPC-S that is made of the same material as that of the pole-like spacers and is formed to surround the display area and also has a width greater than the diameter of the pole spacers along with a sealing material SL filled along the outer edges of the strip spacer SPC-S for allowing the first substrate DSUB and the second substrate USUB to be tightly bonded together.
