摘要： An L-shaped slide plate mounted with a workpiece holding device on a slide guide is firmly attached to an angle adjustment mechanism, and a reciprocating motion drive unit mounted with the angle adjustment mechanism on a slider table is firmly attached to a bridge so that an angle between a surface of a workpiece to be lapped and a surface of a lapping plate is kept substantially constant, and also the bridge is disposed so as to stride the lapping plate. Thereby, in a state of row bar in which a plurality of magnetic head sliders run in a line, an air bearing surface of magnetic head can be lapped with high accuracy with an element recession being decreased and an occurrence of a scratch being restrained.

摘要： A magnetic head is formed of materials having different hardnesses. The head includes a base coat formed on a substrate having a high hardness, for example alumina titanium carbide, upon which a base coat, for example alumina, is formed. The base coat typically had a thickness in the range of 0.05 to 0.5 &mgr;m. This structure provides an improved flying height for heads manufactured using a lapping process.

摘要： Depending on the lateral width thereof, an image recording material P is stably positioned on a recording drum, employing two positioning pins with an appropriate pitch therebetween. Non-contacting portions prevent any irrelevant positioning pins from coming into contact with the material P. The material P may be transported onto the recording drum 5 while one end thereof constitutes an angle U with a rotation axis 5N of the recording drum 5. A reference notch 44ae first fits with a positioning pin 51a. Thereafter, as the aforementioned end of the material P abuts with a positioning pin 51b, accurate positioning occurs. Each positioning pin 51 includes a tapered portion having a reference taper angle 2T. When a leading-end clamp 52 clamps the aforementioned end, the material P comes in contact with the tapered portion, with a, reduced friction force against the positioning pin 51, thereby preventing deformation of the material P.

摘要： Annular grooves are formed on both end surfaces of a recording drum to be rotated, and two balance weights are disposed inside each of the annular grooves. The balance weight is composed of a magnet, and is attracted to the end surface of the recording drum by its magnetic force. The two balance weights are arranged at a predetermined attaching angle such that an unbalance force caused by centrifugal forces developed by a plate and a movable clamp, for example, is canceled. Every time the size and the mass of the plate are changed, the positions of the two balance weights are adjusted, so that forced vibration in the recording drum is restrained.

摘要： In the case where a received multi-level orthogonal amplitude signal is not synchronized with a local carrier frequency signal, a digital multiplexing radio receiver recognizes that an adaptively-equalized data exist in a specified area on the phase plane of Ich and Qch orthogonal coordinates. The receiver controls an operation of amplifying Ich and Qch demodulated signals to a fixed level, based on the data of which exist in the specified area. Similarly, the receiver controls a phase of the local carrier frequency signal based on the data of existing in the specified area, and controls tap coefficients of an adaptive transversal filter which equalizes the received multi-level orthogonal amplitude signal. In the specified area, a distance between signal points of multi-level orthogonal amplitude signal is large so that influence caused by a phase rotation is small. Accordingly, the digital multiplexing radio receiver can rapidly and stably return to a synchronous mode.
