摘要： A file storage apparatus provides an information management method. The information management method includes correlating one or more electronic files with audible cues relative to audio content reproduced via the file storage apparatus, designating respective time intervals of the audio content during which each of the one or more electronic files can be accessed by the file storage apparatus, and retrieving the one or more electronic files of the file storage apparatus upon a predetermined user input provided to the file storage apparatus during one of the respective time intervals of the audio content.

摘要： To allow desired information to be easily retrieved from various types of information. Information is registered at a music playing position of music data. Music data that are audio data or MIDI data are played. While music data are being played, registration instruction is issued for example with a keyboard. Information is registered at a music playing position corresponding to timing of issuance of the registration instruction. When information is retrieved, music data to which the information had been registered are played. When the music data have come to the music playing position at which desired information has been registered, a retrieval instruction is issued for example with the keyboard. Based on this instruction, information registered at the music playing position is retrieved. As a result, the information can be accessed. Since information is registered to a music playing position of the music data, information can be easily and intuitionally registered and retrieved. In addition, since information is retrieved with a sound, the user does not need to stare a screen.

摘要： An entertainment system includes a digital television connected to a number of audio/video input devices. The television and at least two of the input devices support analog legacy communication schemes. The television is adapted to uniquely identify the analog output channels from each of the input devices. Uniquely identifying the analog output channels from each input device enables the television to automatically select the correct device output from among the numerous possibilities. This automation relieves the user of having to manually select the correct analog channel.

摘要： A virtual channel system for a web appliance includes an interactive television having a virtual channel memory disposed therein. The virtual channel memory includes data associated with at least one consumer selectable virtual channel. The data is an updatable Web page that is displayed when its associated virtual channel is selected. The interactive television also includes a user data input memory that includes user demographic information. The user demographic data can be used to customize the virtual channels available at the ITV. More specifically, the ITV system uses the demographic data to establish the virtual channels available to a specific consumer in accordance with the demographic information that he or she has input to the ITV system.

摘要： A gateway screen for interactive television includes a television content panel and an internet content panel. The gateway screen is displayed by an interactive television (ITV), e.g., when the ITV is turned on. The gateway screen allows a user to quickly and easily view information from multiple sources, e.g., a Web site, a television signal source, and an ITV system server, at a glance. This allows a consumer to gain a quick overview of the information presented by the multiple sources. The gateway screen also allows a consumer to select commonly accessed sources. The gateway screen can be tailored to fulfill a specific consumer's needs and can be established based on preferences input by the consumer.
