    摘要: An active matrix liquid crystal display (1) comprises a display substrate (2) on which are formed a pixel matrix (3) and source and gate line drivers (4, 5) formed with polysilicon thin film transistors. A DC-DC converter (9) is also formed on the substrate (2) and converts an incoming supply voltage to a higher voltage needed to operate the transistors and the pixels formed on the substrate (2). The converter (9) comprises a voltage-boosting circuit (11) which is powered, at least during a start-up phase of operation of the display (1) by a photovoltaic cell (10) illuminated by a backlight (8) of the display (1). The cell (10) supplies sufficient power to the converter (9) so that it can convert the incoming supply voltage to the higher supply voltage required by the circuitry on the substrate (2). The output voltage of the circuit (11) may subsequently be used to power the circuit itself so that the backlight (8) may be switched off if it is not required for display purposes following the start-up operation.

    摘要: In one embodiment of the present invention, a wireless interface is provided for supplying all signals and power exclusively wirelessly from a transmitting section to a receiving section. The transmitting section includes a transmitter arranged to modulate a carrier with signals, such as data, control and timing signals. The transmitter is connected to a transmit antenna which comprises a parallel resonant circuit in series with a series resonant circuit. The parallel and series resonant circuits include inductors which are inductively coupled to an inductor of a receive antenna in the receiving section.

The display device further includes at least one electrode operative to change an orientation of the plurality of molecules. The at least one electrode is patterned to define a geometry of at least one field of view of the at least one light sensitive element. A controller is electrically coupled to the at least one electrode, wherein the controller is configured to apply a voltage to the at least one electrode to effect selection of the at least one field of view.

The capacitor (C1) is connected to a control input (RS) which receives a first voltage during a sensing phase for switching off the transistor (M1) and a second voltage during a reading phase for enabling the transistor (M1).

    摘要: A tactile feedback actuator includes a first electrode and a second electrode separated by a gap, and a surface layer above the first and second electrodes. The first electrode receives a first stimulus voltage at a first frequency and the second electrode receives a second stimulus voltage at a second frequency, and the first and second electrodes superimpose the first and second stimulus voltages to generate a total voltage that has a beat frequency less than a perception threshold frequency. An object in contact with a portion of the surface layer is caused to vibrate at the beat frequency. The first electrode and the second electrode may constitute an electrode array including a plurality of column electrode segments, and a plurality of row electrode segments. An object in contact with a portion of the surface layer above one or more electrode segments is caused to vibrate at the beat frequency.
