    摘要: Configurations of cross-linked or vulcanized amphophilic or quaternized block copolymer of haloalkyl epoxides and hydroxyl terminated alkadiene polymers are useful as battery separators in both primary and secondary batteries, particularly nickel-zinc batteries. The quaternized block copolymers are prepared by polymerizing a haloalkyl epoxide in the presence of a hydroxyl terminated 1,3-alkadiene to form a block copolymer that is then reacted with an amine to form the quaternized or amphophilic block copolymer that is then cured or cross-linked with sulfur, polyamines, metal oxides, organic peroxides and the like.

    摘要: This invention relates to a low viscosity hydroxylated liquid polymer having polymerized therein a mercaptan compound containing hydroxyl and/or carboxyl group(s) in an amount sufficient to reduce viscosity and provide low peel property on the order of 10 to 25 ounces without significantly lowering the adhesive properties thereof, to a removable, low peel adhesive which is a reaction product of the liquid polymer and an isocyanate prepolymer, and to a substrate having deposited thereon said adhesive. The removable adhesive produces a clean 180.degree. peel while maintaining good tack and shear and due to its low viscosity, it can be processed at 100% solids, i.e., without any solvent.

    摘要: A simple construction of a two-component adhesive film, external wound dressing, comprises a backing sheet of thin, preferably elastomeric and water vapor-permeable film protected by a release layer comprising two release sheets. The sheets not only protect the adhesive coating on the front face of the film, but also are instrumental in allowing the film to be precisely positioned over a wound, then gradually tensioned with a force no greater than the peel strength for the release sheets, while the dressing is applied. This feature of the dressing allows it to be smoothly applied over the wound with a predetermined amount of force while conforming the film to the contours of an injured body. This features is the result of providing each first and second release sheets with a relatively wide margin, at least 1.25 cm (0.5 inch) wide. The peel strength for each release sheet is essentially identical. In a first embodiment of the dressing, the first release sheet has a first side-margin defined by a fold line running laterally across the longitudinal axis; and the second release sheet has a second side-margin defined by an interrupting line of spaced apart incisions, slits or perforations. In the second embodiment of the dressing each of the release sheets has a side-margin defined by an interrupting line. In either embodiment, no greater force is required to peel each release sheet on either side of the fold line or interrupting line which defines a margin. Another embodiment of the dressing is an "island dressing" in which a pad of fabric has deposited in it, a layer of hydrophilic absorbent polymer to provide an absorptive dressing. The front surface of the pad may be coated with adhesive to facilitate application of the dressing, or be left uncoated.

    摘要: A process is disclosed for preparing a mixture of hydroxyl containing di- and trisulfides, from either 2-mercaptoethanol or 3-mercaptopropanol, directly in two steps, without the formation of deleterious byproducts. Precise control of process conditions (a) in a first step in which the disulfide is formed, includes oxidation of mercapto-lower alkanol with a stoichiometric amount of H.sub.2 O.sub.2 while maintaining the pH and temperature of a relatively dilute aqueous reaction mixture within a specific narrow range; and, (b) in a second step in which a predetermined portion of the disulfide is converted substantially exclusively to the trisulfide, requires controlled heating of the reaction mixture to a temperature not to exceed 100.degree. C. The process may be carried out in a single reaction vessel, and directly yields a preselected distribution of disulfide and trisulfide in the mixture. The mixture is especially useful as a chain terminator in the preparation of hydroxyl-terminated liquid polymers having an aliphatic polymeric backbone and sulfide linkages near the terminal portions of the polymer molecule (referred to as "HTPS" polymers).
