摘要： An image display device capable of supporting brightness enhancement and power control and a method thereof, in which the brightness and contrast are enhanced and the power of a light source is controlled in accordance with the image characteristic. In the image display method, a parameter representative of an input image is calculated from a histogram of the input image, a model corresponding to the input image is selected from a plurality of representative models by analyzing the parameter, and then a brightness controlling function matched with the selected model is selected. The size of each component of a pixel constituting the input image is controlled using the brightness controlling function, and the output image of the pixel whose component size has been controlled is displayed.

摘要： An apparatus and method are provided for correcting a color reproduced by a video device according to peripheral brightness so that the visibility of the video device is guaranteed under peripheral conditions brighter than the video device. The apparatus for correcting a color reproduced by a video device according to peripheral brightness includes: a lookup-table-creation unit which creates a lookup table based on saturation of the video device and brightness of peripheral conditions; a color-correction unit which corrects the color reproduced by the video device according to the created lookup table; and a color-error-compensation unit which compensates for color error resulting from correction of the color. The method of correcting a color reproduced by a video device according to peripheral brightness includes: creating a lookup table based on saturation of the video device and brightness of peripheral conditions; correcting the color reproduced by the video device according to the created lookup table; and compensating for color error resulting from correction of the color.

The method includes: setting at least two directions based on a sub-pixel to be displayed and calculating differences of brightness values of at least two pixels or sub-pixels positioned in the set directions; selecting one of at least two of the differences and determining a direction indicated by the selected difference; determining at least one sub-pixel or pixel neighboring the sub-pixel to be displayed in consideration of the determined direction; and filtering a brightness value of the sub-pixel to be displayed and a brightness value of the determined at least one sub-pixel or pixel and re-assigning the filtered brightness value to the sub-pixel to be displayed.

摘要： Provided is a method for rendering image signals, which represent a predetermined number of colors, in an apparatus used for rendering an image signal that has a plurality of pixels composed of three different sub-pixels among four or more different sub-pixels. The method for rendering image signals comprises (a) selecting three-color signals out of the four or more color signals to be outputted according to a type of sub-pixel, which forms a predetermined pixel, (b) obtaining values of the selected three-color signals in peripheral pixels of the pixels, (c) calculating brightness values of each sub-pixel of the pixel by using the values of the selected three-color signals and corresponding color signal values of the peripheral pixels, and (d) driving a display, which controls brightness of an image that is represented in the display according to the calculated brightness values of sub-pixels.
