摘要： A disk drive damper avoids matching a frequency band of a sound frequency peak generated by the rotation of a spindle motor and a resonant frequency of the damper. The damper is attached to a disk drive apparatus and enabled to repress vibration. The damper includes a flat base portion and wall-thickness portions that are thicker than the flat base portion. The damper is varied in shape more freely than conventional flat dampers. Consequently, the resonant frequency of the damper can be adjusted more freely than ever.

摘要： An apparatus to guide and lock a rotary actuator at a limiting rotational angle in a disk storage. A rotary actuator is attached within a housing so that it is rotatable on a pivot shaft. An iron piece is rotated integrally with the rotary actuator and is attracted in magnetic cooperation with a lock magnet. A retract magnet is attached to housing and assists in rotation of the actuator during an unload operation in which the rotary actuator is removed to a load/unload ramp.

摘要： A low-cost connector comprises a pair of first socket side shields covering two outer surfaces of a socket along a direction a terminal extends. The first socket side shield members are detachable from the socket. A pair of second socket side shield members cover two other outer surfaces of the socket in the back-and-forth direction. Thus, the outer surfaces of the socket can be covered by the second socket side shield members and the first socket side shield members according to dimensions of the terminal in the direction the terminal extends. Accordingly, if the dimensions of socket in the direction the terminal extends differ according to a number of terminals, it is easier and cheaper to manufacture shield members than to cover the socket outer surfaces by one shield member.

摘要： In a hard disk drive, power and signals are transferred through a flexible cable 42 between a carriage having a magnetic head reading magnetic information while the positioning of the magnetic head is controlled on a magnetic disk and a card provided on the lower surface of a base. The movable section 44 of the flexible cable 42 is supported by the carriage to follow the carriage. A nonmovable section 46 is bent so as to enclose a reinforcement plate 50 and installed on the base through the reinforcement plate 50. The reinforcement plate 50 is used as a reinforcement for installing an AE module 54 on the upper surface 52 thereof. The reinforcement plate is also used as a reinforcement for connecting a carriage connector 84 to the card 40 through the lower surface 60 thereof. The reinforcement plate is used for maintaining an attitude to maintain the attitude of the movable section 44 in the lateral direction on a surface 64 of thickness of the plate. One reinforcement plate is needed for performing these operations.

摘要： A high speed transmission connector includes a base board side connector and a cable side connector to be connected with each other and a metal shell which covers a housing and contacts arranged in the housing. By inserting the metal shell of the cable side connector into the metal shell of the base board side connector, the contacts and the metal shells are respectively connected electrically. The metal shell of the base board connector includes a recess portion for adjusting a space between the metal shell and the contact in the base board side connector. With this invention, the characteristic impedance can be adjusted with an easy method and can sufficiently cope with the miniaturization of the connector and with a higher density.
