    摘要: A gas component detection apparatus comprises a first and a second gas sensing elements each composed of a metal oxide which exhibits variable electric resistances according to gaseous components and temperatures of gases to be detected. A catalyst is carried at least by the first sensing element for promoting oxidation reactions of the gaseous components of the gases. A first pair of electrodes are inserted into those portions of the first sensing element which are subjected to catalytic action of the catalyst. Into the portions of the second sensing element which are not subjected to catalytic action are inserted a second pair of electrodes. The first pair of electrodes sense a variation in electric resistances resulting from the gaseous components and temperatures of the gases, while the second pair of electrodes detect an electric resistance variation related mainly upon the gas temperatures. Consequently, an output signal reflecting substantially only the gaseous components of the gases is produced by offsetting both of the electric resistances separately sensed utilizing a suitable electric circuit.

    摘要: A gas component detection apparatus for detecting gas components contained in an exhaust gas from a combustion device and determining an air-fuel ratio of an air-fuel mixture supplied thereto. A gas component detecting element composed of a semiconductive metal oxide is contacted by the exhaust gas andexhibits variable electric resistances according to the concentrations of the gas components. The electric resistance is taken out as an electric signal through two electrodes disposed either on the surface of the detecting element exposed to the exhaust gas or within the detecting element adjacent that exposed surface. A porous coating layer having an exhaust gas permeability covers the surface of the detecting element exposed to the exhaust gas so as to prevent poisonous substances contained in the exhaust gas from depositing on that exposed surface of the detecting element. The coating layer is formed of a metal oxide having electrically insulating properties and carries therein a catalyst promoting an oxidation reaction of the exhaust gas. The detecting element exhibits an abruptly changed electric resistance when the actual air-fuel ratio of the air-fuel mixture supplied into the combustion device is deviated from a stoichiometrical air-fuel ratio, thereby enabling the control of the air-fuel ratio of the air-fuel mixture.

    摘要: A gas component detection apparatus for detecting gaseous components of exhaust gases from a combustion device. There is provided a gas component detecting element composed of semiconductive metal oxides and having its outer surface partly exposed to the exhaust gases. A catalyst layer is carried on the larger part of the latter outer surface of the detecting element. A pair of electrodes are provided for sensing the electric resistance exhibited at the portion of the detecting element which carries the catalyst layer. Also another electrode is provided for cooperating with one of the above pair of electrodes to detect the electric resistance exhibited at the portion of the detecting element which does not carry the catalyst layer. The former portion of the detecting element exhibits variable electric resistances resulting from concentrations of the gaseous components and the temperatures of the exhaust gases, while the latter portion thereof exhibits variable electric resistances related mainly upon the temperatures of the exhaust gases. Consequently, an output signal reflecting substantially only the gaseous components of the exhaust gases is produced by offsetting both of the electric resistances separately sensed utilizing a suitable electric circuit.

    摘要: A gas component detector for detecting a gas component in the exhaust gases includes a detector element of a metal oxide whose electrical resistance value varies suddenly depending on the gas component. The detector element is held on an electrically insulating and heat-resistant holding body and furthermore, the detector element is enclosed by a catalyst carrier body which is fixed to the holding body by an inorganic bonding adhesive. Since the catalyst carrier body is of a porous heat-resistant metal oxide, the exhaust gases to be detected are permitted to pass through the catalyst carrier body and the gas component is oxidated by the aid of a catalyst material carried on the carrier body. The environment of the detector element thus becomes a weak reducing environment thereby preventing the detector element from being reduced and deteriorated.

    摘要: A gas component detector has a detector element of a metal oxide held on one end of a ceramic body. The detector element is exposed to the gases to be detected and the electrical resistance value thereof is varied depending on the component of the gases. An electrical signal representing an electrical resistance value of the detector element is delivered through a pair of electrodes connected to the detector element and further through a pair of sub-lead-lines connected to the electrodes. The pairs of electrodes and sub-lead-lines are inserted in a pair of penetrating holes of the ceramic body after the electrodes and sub-lead-lines have been welded to each other. The ceramic body is inserted in a metal tube and the ceramic body and the metal tube are fixed to each other either by a tight surface contact or an adhesive. The openings of the pair of penetrating holes of the ceramic body at the opposite end with respect to the detector element are closed by a sealing material of an electrically insulating metal oxide.

The gas sensor further comprises a circuit for monitoring the voltage at the junction point and another circuit responsive to the monitoring circuit to change the resistance of the reference resistor so that when the voltage at the junction point exceeds the predetermined range, the resistance of the reference resistor is changed such that the voltage at the junction point may change within the predetermined range in the state after the reference resistor is changed to ensure that the voltage at the junction point properly indicates the gas composition even if the resistance of the gas sensing element changes with the operating temperature of the gas sensing element or with time.
