A new intermediate transfer member which has a durable coating layer which easily conforms to the elastic deformation of the rubber layer, exhibits good wear resistance, permits easy resistance control, and fulfills such requirements as protection of the photosensitive body from staining, prevention of toner sticking, and decrease in the coefficient of friction. It is characterized in that the coating layer is composed mainly of a urethane resin which is formed from a polyol compound and a polyisocyanate compound in an excess amount in terms of NCO/OH molar ratio and which contains a solvent-insoluble fraction no less than 70%.

The above-mentioned intermediate transfer member is remarkably effective in preventing toner adhesion or fixing and enhancing the durability of itself by virtue of the specific constitution. Further, the member is capable of properly correcting the deformation energy behavior in an extremely shallow region of the member surfaces, and effectively preventing the deformation accompanying the repeated contact of the member with a toner and related members. Thus the durability of the member is surely enhanced.

In the image display device, in which the image display media are sealed between opposed substrates, at least one of two substrates being transparent, and in which the image display media, to which an electrostatic field is applied, are made to move so as to display an image, a construction of the particles utilizing as the image display media is improved (the first, second, fourth, fifth, sixth, eighth and ninth aspects of the invention), and, a material of the particles utilizing as the image display media is improved (the third, seventh and tenth aspects of the invention). Therefore, the whiteness of the particles and the liquid powder using the particles can be improved, and it is possible to prevent the particle agglutination and to control the charge property. Moreover, in the image display panel in which the particles and the liquid powder are used as the image display media, it is possible to obtain a durability such that a contrast of the image display during a repetition display is not decreased. As a result, in the image display device in which the image display panel mentioned above is installed, an excellent image display can be achieved.

The present invention provides an information display panel capable of maintaining an excellent image property even after repeated rewrite, and particles for display media used therefor. The information display panel, in which at least one kind of display media including a charged particle for display media are sealed in a space between substrates at least one of which is transparent, for displaying an image by application of electrostatic force to the display media by means of an electronic field forming means, uses the particle for display media comprised of a mother particle, child particles and fine particles. The child particles, having a molecular structure of three-dimensional crosslinked structure and a particle diameter smaller than that of the mother particle which has no molecular structure of three-dimensional crosslinked structure, are embedded in a surface of the mother particle. It thereby hardens the surface of the mother particle. Then, the fine particles having the particle diameter smaller than that of the child particles are attached to the mother particle having the child particles embedded therein, it is thus possible to prevent the fine particles from being buried in the mother particles.
