    Abstract: A vehicle state judging apparatus includes a wheel speed sensor provided on a vehicle detecting a wheel speed, a shift position sensor detecting a position of a shift lever, an acceleration sensor detecting acceleration acting on the vehicle, and a judging unit judging a vehicle state from detection values of the wheel speed sensor, the shift position sensor and the acceleration sensor. The judging unit judges that a travel direction of the vehicle is switched when the judging unit detects that the shift lever is switched from a position other than forward movement to a position of the forward movement or switched from a position other than backward movement to a position of the backward movement, detects that the wheel speed is not lower than a first reference speed, and further detects that the wheel speed becomes not higher than a second reference speed before the moment of detection.

    Abstract: A scroll type compressor including a housing, a fixed scroll which is joined to the housing and including a first end plate from which a first wrap extends and an orbiting scroll which includes a second end plate from which a second wrap extends.     Abstract: A rotary machine, such as a horizontally oriented scroll type refrigerant compressor is disclosed. The compressor includes a compressor housing, an inner block fixedly disposed within the compressor housing, a drive shaft extending substantially in the horizontal direction, and a driven mechanism, such as a compression mechanism operatively connected to one end of the drive shaft. The drive shaft is rotatably supported by the inner block and the compressor housing. A shielding element, such as an annular cylindrical member is fixedly held between the inner block and the compressor housing to prevent the drive shaft from passing through an oil sump of the housing. An internal lubrication oil pump is formed by the elements which are associated with the drive shaft, and is operated by virtue of the rotational motion of the drive shaft in order to supply the lubrication oil from the oil sump to the frictional surfaces of the internal component parts of the compressor. According to the construction and operational manner of the oil pump, the oil pump can be used for various types of horizontally oriented rotary machines. The drive shaft can also rotate without receiving oil viscous drag.

    Abstract: A method for assembling a motor driven fluid compressor having a compression mechanism, such as a scroll type fluid compression mechanism and a drive mechanism which are contained within a hermetically sealed housing is disclosed. The compression mechanism includes a fixed and orbiting scrolls. The drive mechanism includes a drive shaft and a motor rotating the drive shaft. The housing is divided into a first and second cup-shaped portions and a cylindrical portion. An opening end of the first cup-shaped portion is releasably and hermetically connected to one opening end of the cylindrical portion. An opening end of the second cup-shaped portion is releasably and hermetically connected to another opening end of the cylindrical portion. A first, second and third sub-assemblies are separately prepared, and then are assembled into the compressor. The first sub-assembly is formed by the first cup-shaped portion and at least one internal component part of the compressor. The second sub-assembly is formed by the first cup-shaped portion and at least one internal component part of the compressor. The third sub-assembly is formed by the cylindrical portion and the remainder of the internal component parts of the compressor. Accordingly, the compressor can be easily assembled under a flexible management.

    Abstract: A method for making insoluble detrimental heavy metals contained in a fly ash collected from an exhaust gas discharged from an incinerator. For the purpose of making insoluble the heavy metals, a chelating agent and water are added to the fly ash and these substances are kneaded to form a kneaded mass. The kneaded mass has a strong alkalinity under the effect of an alkaline substance added to the exhaust gas to remove hydrogen chloride and other detrimental components contained in the exhaust gas. The reactions between the heavy metals and the chelating agent in the kneaded mass are promoted by adjusting the amount of added water to limit a pH value of the kneaded mass to up to 12, thereby converting the heavy metals into water-insoluble chelate compounds through the reaction with the chelating agent.
