摘要: A system for patient cardiac imaging and tissue modeling. The system includes a patient imaging device that can acquire patient cardiac imaging data. A processor is configured to receive the cardiac imaging data. A user interface and display allow a user to interact with the cardiac imaging data. The processor includes fat identification software conducting operations to interact with a trained learning network to identify fat tissue in the cardiac imaging data and to map fat tissue onto a three-dimensional model of the heart. A preferred system uses an ultrasound imaging device as the patient imaging device. Another preferred system uses an MRI or CT image device as the patient imaging device.

摘要: This disclosure provides methods for treating dysphagia in a patient in need of esophageal dilation of his/her esophageal stricture. The methods according to this disclosure comprise: i. injecting circumferentially into the esophageal stricture area a sterile pharmaceutical composition comprising a pharmaceutically acceptable fluid carrier and tissue matrix allograft particles composed of human amnion and chorion membranes, wherein the amnion membrane is de-epithelized; and ii. performing pneumatic dilation of the esophageal stricture with a balloon dilator. The methods of this disclosure are particularly suitable for treating a complex and scarred cervical esophageal stricture, including reoccurring cervical esophageal strictures. The present methods may be particularly beneficial for cancer patients, including head and neck cancer patients, who were previously treated with external beam radiation and/or chemotherapy and/or a surgery for his/her cancer.

摘要: Compositions and treatment regimen that includes the compositions, suitable for preventing, treating and restoring hearing acuity in a subject are provided. The treatment regimen includes an amount of capsaicin and an amount of a TNF-α inhibitor (such as etanercept) that are delivered relatively simultaneously to a subject. Methods of providing a pretreatment to a subject suitable for preventing hearing loss are also provided. The capsaicin and TNFα inhibitor may be provided in different delivery forms to the subject. Methods of providing a treatment for hearing loss with a TNFα inhibitor alone, such as entanercept, or with capsaicin alone, are also provided.

摘要: A syringe device for separating liquids of different densities is provided with a hollow syringe barrel, a perforated plunger seal with a seal hole, and a hollow plunging tube with a closed bottom with at least one tube hole. The perforated plunger seal has an outer perimeter that resides flush against an interior surface of the hollow syringe barrel. The tube hole is in operational relationship with the seal hole. Optionally, a relief hole is provided on a top portion of the hollow plunging tube to allow a user to create vacuum pressure as necessary.

摘要: This invention refers to innovative water sprays applications to significantly improve coal and quartz dust control around a continuous miner. Significant dust control is achieved through utilizing different types of sprays at locations on the top and sides of the miner chassis to create water curtains or shrouds of water around zones of high dust concentration and zones of high concentration dust transport. This is called “multiple lines of defense” spray system (MLD.) This invention also provides a method of reducing dust around a continuous miner by configuring a spray system, located at the top or sides of the cutter boom, thereby improving control of respirable dust.

摘要: Objectively identifying an acoustic characteristic of tinnitus of a subject. The subject is exposed to a sound pattern having a background acoustic signal preceding an audible silence. The background acoustic signal has a selected acoustic characteristic. An electrical response of the subject's central nervous system to the exposure to the sound pattern is measured. The measured electrical response has a first portion representing the electrical response of the subject's central nervous system to the background acoustic signal, and a second portion representing the electrical response of the subject's central nervous system to the audible silence in the sound pattern. The first portion of the measured electrical response is compared to the second portion of the measured electrical response and a determination is made as to whether the subject has tinnitus with an acoustic characteristic similar to the selected acoustic characteristic based on the comparison.
