    摘要: A system and method for formation and processing of pressurized die cast metal articles or components includes an injection or casting station in which a series of cast metal articles are formed within a series of dies by the introduction of a metal material into the dies. The dies are then moved to a retention area where the metal material is permitted to solidify to form the castings, after which the dies are opened and the castings removed therefrom, and subsequently are transferred to a short cycle solution heat treatment station. The castings are conveyed through the short cycle solution heat treatment station with the castings maintained within a series of fixtures to dimensionally support and stabilize the castings during solution heat treatment thereof. The castings thereafter are moved through a quenching chamber or station, with the castings further being held or retained in a fixtured, dimensionally stabilized alignment and/or orientation as the castings are subjected to a quenching operation to quench and cool the castings to a normalized or substantially cooled state.

    摘要: A system for combustion and removal of residual carbon within fly ash particles in which the fly ash particles are fed into a particulate bed within a reactor chamber. The fly ash particles are subjected to heat and motive air such that as the fly ash particles pass through the particulate bed, they are heated to a sufficient temperature to cause the combustion of the residual carbon within the particles. The fly ash particles thereafter are conveyed in a dilute phase for further combustion through the reactor chamber away from the particulate bed and exhausted to an ash capture. The fly ash is then separated from the exhaust air that conveys the ash in its dilute phase with the air being further exhausted and the captured fly ash particles being fed to a feed accumulator for re-injection to the reactor chamber or discharge for further processing.

    摘要: An improved method and apparatus for heat treating metal castings with sand cores provides for removal of the sand core and recovery of the sand core material for reuse. The method and apparatus eliminate the need for removing the sand core from the casting prior to heat treatment and thus eliminate the labor, expense, and possible damage to the casting incidental to conventional core removal techniques such as chiseling and shaking. The method involves heating the casting with sand core therein to a temperature sufficient to burn off the binder component of the sand core. The sand comprising the sand core is then blown out of the casting by directing a flow of air over the workpiece. The sand thus dislodged is then collected for reuse. According to the disclosed apparatus, the castings are heated in a furnace having fans for directing a flow of air over the workpieces. The sand dislodged from the castings falls into a trough in the lower portion of the furnace, where it is collected and conveyed to a central collection bin for reuse. In another aspect of the disclosed apparatus, the castings are subsequently immersed in a quench tank. The quench tank includes agitation means for agitating water over the castings to dislodge remaining sand. The sand falls to the bottom of the tank, where the sand and a portion of the water are removed from the sand. A major portion of the water is then removed from the sand so that the sand can be reused.

    摘要: The disclosure, for classification, is to a pressure vessel with fill valve admitting thereinto material to drop into a perforate diaphragm to be transferred, vacuum pulling in the material upon the perforate membrane or diaphragm, to upstand thereabove, the gas plenum below the diaphragm having activating gas inlet valve means communicating therewith and opened at intervals temporarily to break the vacuum. When a batch of material has been drawn in, the fill valve and the vacuum (and air break) valves are automatically closed, the activating gas inlet valve is opened to admit activating gas, as compressed air, to pass upwardly through diaphragm and activate the material to a highly flowable state. A discharge valve is then opened to let the pressurized material flow out through a discharge line to point of transfer. As the pressure in material plenum drops, the discharge valve is closed, the activating gas valve is closed, and a purge valve in a by-pass line, around the discharge valve, is opened, and residual pressure purges the residual material as this pressure falls substantially to atmospheric, for a succeeding cycle to begin. The disclosure is also to pressure vessels where the material drops onto the diaphragm via gravity when the fill valve opens, such vessels also being mounted on load cells equipped to emanate a pressure signal in correspondence with the weight of material admitted into the pressure vessel. Also, the disclosure is to pressure vessels equipped with circuitry controlled drier apparatus. Additionally, for all forms, variations of circuitry are shown whereby various steps may be controlled by at least one of pressure, time, level probe position, weight and limit switch position.
