摘要: The invention relates to a system for guiding a surgical tool (200) held by a user relative to at least one target axis (T) defined in a coordinate system of a patient's spine, comprising: (i) a robotic device (300) comprising: —a base (301), —a guiding device (303) configured for constraining the tool to a guiding axis (G), —a compact motorized actuation unit (304) movable relative to the base (301), coupled to the guiding device (303) for adjusting a position and orientation of said guiding device relative to the target axis, —a support unit (305) connected to the base (301), comprising at least one element designed to make contact with the spine or a region of the patient's body adjacent to the spine so as to provide a partial mechanical link between the guiding device and the spine, (ii) a passive articulated lockable holding arm (400) supporting the base (301) of the robotic device, (iii) a tracking unit (500) configured to determine in real time the pose of the guiding axis with respect to the coordinate system of the patient's spine, (iv) a control unit configured to: (a) determine the pose of the guiding axis with respect to the target axis, (b) compute a working space of the robotic device for said determined pose, (c) compute at least one indicator representing the capability of the actuation unit to bring the guiding axis in alignment with the target axis based on the computed working space and the pose of the guiding device, (v) a user interface (600) coupled to the control unit, configured for displaying a representation of the guiding axis (G) relative to the target axis (T), wherein the control unit is further configured to control the actuation unit to bring the guiding axis into alignment with the target axis.

摘要: A rotary surgical assembly is disclosed. The assembly has a plurality of cutting teeth (216), a hollow dome (200) and a spindle (10). The hollow dome has a pole having a pole axis X, and a cutting surface featuring some of the cutting teeth. The cutting surface includes a curved part (214) and a substantially flat part (212) proximal the pole with an aperture (210) extending therethrough. The spindle has a proximal end (12) and a distal end (14) including a spindle mounting element (16). The spindle mounting element is secured to the dome beneath the substantially flat part of the cutting surface. The spindle mounting element has a cutting tooth (22) that extends distally through the cutting surface's aperture to form one of the said plurality of cutting teeth. A kit, and methods of manufacturing the rotary surgical assembly are described also.

摘要: The invention provides a femoral head centre of rotation locating device (10) comprising an adjustable frame (12) having a frame axis (X). The frame includes a central frame portion (14); a first jaw (16) that is linearly moveable relative to the central frame portion along the frame axis and having a first femoral head contacting surface (26); a second jaw (18) that is linearly moveable relative to the central frame portion along the frame axis and having a second femoral head contacting surface (28), and a gear wheel (32) mounted on the central frame portion. The gear wheel has a centric aperture (34) located substantially equidistant from the first and second femoral head contacting surfaces. The gear wheel is operably connected to each of the first and second moveable jaws by gear teeth (30) provided on a surface of each of the first and second moveable jaws. Linear movement of the first jaw in a first direction rotates the gear wheel to cause reciprocal linear movement of the second jaw to maintain the centric aperture at a position equidistant from the first and second femoral head contacting surfaces. This aligns the centric aperture with the native head centre of the femur as the first and second femoral head contacting surfaces come into contact with opposite surfaces of the femoral head.

摘要: An orthopedic surgical instrument for use in knee surgeries includes an elongated body, a pair of output shafts, and a user control. A first output shaft extends out from a first side of the body along a first output axis substantially perpendicular to a longitudinal axis of the elongated body. A second output shaft also extends out from the first side of the elongated body along a second output axis substantially perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the elongated body. The user control is coupled to the elongated body near a first end and the first and second output shafts are situated near the second end of the elongated body. Each of the first output shaft and the second output shaft are configured to turn independent of one another in response to operation of the user control. Various joint distractors for use with the orthopaedic surgical instrument are also disclosed.
